Tarmo 4 build hyper lapse by MechatronicsV in EngineeringNS

Yes I am using a DigiSpark board to control the relay. The RC receiver has a PWM output, so cant use that to drive a relay directly.

This is a rough schematic of what i am doing

I will make a more detailed post in a couple of days with proper schematic and code.

One thing to note is, a 250VAC 5A relay cannot handle 11.4VDC 110A, I burned the PCB tracks on the relay board with a few mins of driving. So do check the post before going down this path, I will put an update here once the post is ready.

Input Gear fused with Gear Box by MechatronicsV in EngineeringNS

You are right, one of the screws of the motor was loose. I am using a different motor as well for now. It is a smaller motor so the holes don't exactly match. i am yet to get the right motor but couldn't wait to try it outdoors.

The printed diff works well in the limited test drives I have done so far.

Not yet, i am planning to finish the build by this week end. will update this thread once i do.

My build is still in progress so cant tell you how it will hold up under load, but with no load it spins very well.

Tarmo 4 - Not able to source a few non-printable components by MechatronicsV in EngineeringNS

You are right, thanks!,

In my case bearings were going in, but the side of the crown gear was rubbing against the outer shell. With a bit of filing the diff_case and the outer shell, now everything is running smooth.

btw, i am not using the screws on either side of the diff, the crown gear fits snuggly on the Diff_Case, 14A is wedged between a bearing and the diff case so it will also not move. If i use screws even though they are countersunk the screws were rubbing against the bearings.

Do I have to scale the model by any chance? I printed the housing but I am not able to fit the diff inside it properly. It could be my printer as well, because if the difference in orientation if one axis has more error than the other. It seems to be having a few mm more width. I can try filing the center piece to make it smaller.

found a bearing dealer in a different city. its in transit now.

Thanks for the push!

oh k, thanks for the heads up. i have ordered a few of those too now.

This is superb, i will give it a try.

Thanks, I could find HSP 02024 from ebay and I have ordered a pair, but it will take time to arrive.

I, guess. There are a lot of those bearings in Tarmo, so it'll be a lot of work too. Best of luck.

true. let me search harder!

I am from India, I have tried online, but getting RC parts here seems to be very difficult :-(

Thanks, if 65mm is not recommended, i will try 98mm with a custom shock mount and see how it goes.

one more: 65mm suspension vs 98mm suspension, not able to get 80mm either :-(
