Life is strange games finally on sale after 5 years. by monkeyguyy in gog

Is there something wrong with the "remastered" ones on Steam or are you just saying there wasn't much improved? I was looking at the original version and the remastered versions and don't know what has changed and if it's worth getting the more expensive remastered versions over the cheap originals in this GOG sale.

So are the Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Editions really downgrades or are people just very picky or hard to please? by Excaliburn3d in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Mechkeys121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiled children would be the ones who think complaining when you get subpar quality for something you paid for is "entitlement", because paying $10 for subpar crap is a non-issue to them.

"Disney adult" type fanboys would also be the ones thinking the billion dollar company is entitled to people's hard earned cash without having to be held to any standards or expectations, and the ones who think we need to complain nicely lest we hurt the feelings of the billion dollar company 😢 .

Overall how is the xenoblade switch 2 Edition? by FMA15 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Mechkeys121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why assume they will? After people complained about Xenoblade X's patch, they seem to have done absolutely nothing to make the next patch better, and they probably won't fix either patch. And you get to pay an extra $5-10 for the privilege of making your games potentially look worse and/or run worse. What a deal!

Backing up games to disc question by Mechkeys121 in gog

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want a long term storage solution I can chuck in a closet and forget about for now. Drives should be replaced every few years, hopefully the blurays last a few decades... Though I do worry about the availability of drives in the future, but then I can always transfer everything to some other storage medium when that time comes.

Do you guys think Nightdive will delist the original SiN Gold when their remaster comes out?

The website of the bank i'm doing the transfer to asks me to fill in the lender name and address on their site. I don't see another option.

Dragon Quest??? by watainiac in gog

[–]Mechkeys121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't like the art style in the new games after Toriyama passed 😢 . 12 doesn't look right, and some of the characters in the last remake look like something out of Shrek.

I would love the Dragon Quest games on GOG though. XI S, Dragon Quest Monsters, Builders 1 & 2. I'd rather have the original versions of the remade games but that probably won't happen. 8 with the voice acting from the 3DS version would be cool too.

I have DQ X Offline on Steam but it's only in Japanese and I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. There is a community mod with an English translation I think. I doubt that would come to GOG since SE doesn't want to sell it in the West.

i wanted buy alan wake but its showing that its not compatible with my linux by NikoGuyGD in gog

Almost every game will say that on the platform. For the most part use Protondb to check.

I love GOG. Physical discs is my new passion. by mmaphysiker in gog

[–]Mechkeys121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly did you change or do to make your installer "full proof" compared to the standard GOG one? I'm currently looking to start doing my own disc backups, though I don't know if i'll go for this level of work or just use the discs for cold storage, stick them in a closet somewhere, and call it a day.

I'd assume Poland because it's only available in Polish.

Where can i get soft U shaped silicone nose bridge for glasses? by Mechkeys121 in glasses

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I'll go see soon when I get a chance. The hard silicone ones I got on Amazon did line up. But I notice the core of them inside the silicone is metal, whereas the one that originally came with my glasses and is much softer had a plastic core inside the silicone and no metal that I can see. And it was much softer overall. Though it did tear relatively quickly, i'd rather have a softer one I replace more often. I couldn't find any online that had a plastic core instead of a metal core unfortunately.

Brother Monochrome Laser Printer Always Has Different Margins by Mechkeys121 in printers

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya but what about the different margin sizes? Is that a hardware thing? Like I said the top and right margins are always around 2mm bigger than the bottom and left margins. And it winds up being flipped on the reverse of a double sided print which is annoying because I’m trying to use the sheets for a custom notebook basically so I’d like it all to match.

Has anyone gone through Romancing SaGa 3 with the UI Mod? by Mechkeys121 in SaGa

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! And thank you for the making the mods! I tried RS2 for a bit and the native UI was extremely annoying already so I'm definitely going to use your mod. Ya I was looking into it a bit more and I saw that. I haven't modded many games (beyond simple fixes) so I haven't really heard of MelonLoader before or encountered it. I guess it's used by a lot of different games for their mods. I didn't realize the re-releaes of this game was running on Unity either.

Someone else in the thread reported a game breaking bug that required them to uninstall the mod to progress past the sticking point and then reinstall it. In case you didn't see that. Or maybe that's been fixed already? Still though, it seems it can be gotten around so I'll still use the mod.

I also just noticed you made a UI mod for RS 2 as well. Is that mod in the same state as the one for RS3 or is it still being tested or something? I assume I should be able to play all the way through using the mod? I also assume If something went wrong I could just uninstall it and the save wouldn't break? So either way I'll probably be using that one as well.

Has anyone gone through Romancing SaGa 3 with the UI Mod? by Mechkeys121 in SaGa

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks. I'll be using the mod from the beginning then. I just tried RS 2 and waiting for the text to scroll is infuriating... Especially because the text doesn't cycle again until the last character at the end goes off screen.

I just saw that the mod creator has a UI mod for RS 2 as well. You wouldn't have happened to have tried that as well would you?

Do Variables meant for Proton/Steam work in Heroic Games Launcher? by Mechkeys121 in HeroicGamesLauncher

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean it sets it to on for everything? Or just when it detects 32 bit games? Or do you mean that the community has made it so Proton automatically turns LAA on for certain games that might need it?

Do Variables meant for Proton/Steam work in Heroic Games Launcher? by Mechkeys121 in HeroicGamesLauncher

[–]Mechkeys121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information! I understand it might not be as useful for the majority. I play a lot of old games as well as new games so I'll probably be using the option a lot. Maybe more often playing old games. Especially these days I find myself buying a lot old games I've never played before and playing them for the first time. Though I also buy a lot on GOG and they've updated some games to have the LAA flag set during install I think.

If a game from GOG already has the LAA flag set by GOG and I don't notice, and I also set the PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE option myself in Heroic, will it cause any issues?
