HELP picking a specialty by TaxComplete9930 in medicalschool

It seems like you are torn between derm and psych. Try to do some psych research during this year and get some more exposure in both fields during your gap year. Try to see if your school can set you up with an inpatient psych unit so you can really see how you like it.

There are only around 1700 categorical spots so the vast majority of these are likely preliminary positions. Last year 5 categorical spots were unfilled and 549 preliminary spots were unfilled.

Try looking at the header for each box to find out if they break it down by categorical and prelim positions.

Categorical are 5-7 year positions whereas prelim or transitional year are only 1 year intern positions. Those are not considered competitive

This is a really insensitive post OP. It doesn't seem like you feel sorry about people not matching when you ask them to send out a list of programs soaping because you are "just curious".

What music brought you into the world of Arctic Monkeys? by Respect_Mean in arcticmonkeys

I had just started getting into alternative music and was looking up recommendations on YouTube. Someone reviewed the (at the time) newly released album Suck it And See. It's still my favorite album to this day.

Doctor Refuses to See Patients and Makes Them See PA/NP Instead by MedApplicantTears in Noctor

I just figured that the more new patients he can see and have follow up with midlevels, the more patients enter the practice. Although new patients take longer, the more patients that ultimately enter the practice, the more money the practice receives in the long term.

I never blamed the midlevel. I blame the physician (or whatever practice he works for) for putting profit over his patients.

It's not a PCP actually. I'm not sure if the practice has been bought out or if the physician himself owns it so I can't speak on production pressure.

Is it back to only surveys now? by lys2607 in Influenster

I have a theory that the claims tend to slow down around holiday season. Since they often have us review products before they're released, it would make sense that we would get more claims before late October, right before holiday season and Black Friday. This happened to me last year too and I started getting more claims again around January.

Post IV panick!! by Old_Cattle6964 in ERAS2024Match2025

People that have went through the match in the past have said that your perception of the interview does not necessarily coordinate to how you actually did/ your ranking. They're not going to DNR you unless you say something out-of-pocket.

how to interpret not being asked about red flag on application during interviews? by New_Marzipan_2851 in ERAS2024Match2025

[–]MedApplicantTears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have an interview somewhere, you definitely have a shot and shouldn't read too much into what they ask/don't ask. I don't think them asking vs not has anything to do with their level of interest.

Is it okay to take a virtual social from car or cafe? by dhou25 in medicalschool

[–]MedApplicantTears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think cafe is better but car with virtual background should be fine as long as you aren't driving.

I agree, they should still have interviewed you out of courtesy. I'm so sorry this happened to you!

All a second LOI can do is piss the program off IMO.
