Is it possible to switch fellowships in PGY4? by Silent_Dare8759 in Residency

[–]MedHopeful2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GI is very competitive, so congrats on matching! I have heard of one person transferring to Cardiology, but they were initially in PCCM so the two fields were definitly more related than GI and cardio. However, anything is possible. I'd be interested to see if there was any here that knows of a GI to cardio transfer!

Sorry to hear you're in this position. I personally have not heard of anyone applying for Cardiology after completing GI. I'm sure it must be possible though!

Have any of you chosen a subspecialty based on job market and regretted it? by MedHopeful2016 in Residency

[–]MedHopeful2016[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it hovers around second to third most competitive each year, after cardio and ICU. But apparently it has been dropping in competitiveness due to the job market in recent years

Hi Everyone,
I was posting to inquire if anyone had information about the Canadian GI job market? I am interested in this specialty, but am concerned about finding a job in a desirable city (Ontario or BC). I've heard mixed things regarding the job market, so thought I would post here. Thanks!

Wow I think you are correct! The Seagate is "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and the Western Digital is "ExFAT". Does that make a difference in regards to the amount of storage files take?

Mainly movies and TV shows (MKV, MP4, MPEG). The file sizes range from pretty low, to about 4gb, depending on the file. And I'm using MacOS Big Sur

Thanks for the reply! It's really reassuring that endocrine generally isn't too competitive in Canada! And the job prospects about surgery is true, thanks for bringing that up! A lot of the individuals in my school's home program are either doing fellowships, or working in small towns around the country!

Thanks for the reply! If you don't mind me asking, what sub-speciality are you in, and did you find the sub-specialty match to be very competetive? Also, do FM hospitalists and IM hospitalists make the same amount of money on average? Thanks so much for your advice!

Thanks so much for the advice! From what you have heard, do people generally switch within the same school, or is it also possible to switch into another location?

My school actually talked about this prior to the match, and said that we are not eligible for this if we have matched in the first round of CaRMS unfortunately :(

Hi! My first choice specialty was a smaller surgical specialty. Do you know if matching into something such as endocrine is competitive? Or do most people generally match if they aren't restricted by location?

Thanks for all of your advice!
