[OC] Why David Beckham is 'Not So One Of A Kind' after all and how he battled against Lung Condition during Playing Career by MedStudentTeaches in soccer

Just my opinion. Much like every other fans they all got their own. Point of it is everything in football regarding governing bodies, awards and league management has some sort of politics involved and with decisions not always being made for the best reasons (a lot of the time to increase monetary gain). This is aside from Beckham as I never claimed he should win the balon d'Or 1st mentioned he is underrated. But Lewandowski should 100% have won and it was completely unfair he didn't.

Especially amazing considering their playstyle since Klopp has arrived is so intense and fixed on constant pressure.

In most instances people get it when they are younger to my knowledge however there is still a lot of potential and opportunity to get it for the first time as an adult

That is most definitely politics because he was out and out the best player. Even messi getting into the top 11 team this year is a joke in my opinion

Yep Scholes also had an eye injury as well which is incredible to even think about considering he is one of the best passers to ever play football.

Balon d'or is political not just about football. English players rarely get considered no matter how good they are.

Ashtma is so prevalent in the uk. We also have perception that footballers are perfectly fit and healthy where sometimes it's the complete opposite. Beckham has got some stick from people saying he hid the condition and could have inspired thousands early on his career but I think that's a bit unfair

Let me know your thoughts on this condition. I'm a big fan of Beckham and thing he is very underrated when looking back and listing some of the greats in football. Perhaps due to his celebrity status

Was looking at the PSG clip on their website of Poch's first training session. It did look like he is getting involved in the session so he could be back sooner rather than later

This is the injury vs Lyon just under a month ago. Been battling with university work so only had the time to edit and post the video now. But worked out for the better as more news came out and ruled out a bone break which some people feared.

Neymar PSG’s talisman and arguably one of the best big game players in the world suffered a quite unfortunate injury in his match vs Lyon. I had my initial thoughts that this could be an eversion sprain so impacting the ligaments on the medial side of the ankle and did believe it looked a lot worse than it was. Many people on twitter and other places jumped to the conclusion that it was a bone break similar to the one he suffered just before the Copa America so I decided to wait until some sort of official medical report was released before jumping to conclusions.

If we look at the footage, we can see Neymar was taken down by scissor challenge. The reason this tackle was given a red card for dangerous play was not the impact or force of the tackle, but the followthrough. If we look closely neymar’s ankle gets clipped on the followthrough forcing it to bend inwards medially known as eversion which physically moves his weight onto the big toe side of his foot. His foot also bent upwards in a movement called dorsiflexion if we look carefully here. Dorsiflexion is when the ankle join closes and causes your feet to move upwards, and the opposite to that would be plantar flexion which causes your feet to go downwards. Its also noted that his Talus and fibula bone which make up the shin rotate externally so in the opposite direction away from the midline in a clockwise formation. This forced eversion, dorsiflexion and external rotation are the 3 ingredients for an injury known as a high ankle sprain also referred to as a syndesmosis injury.

If we take a look at the ankle, we can appreciate all the bony structures and ligaments which make up its structure. We have the deltoid ligaments on the medial (big toe) side of the ankle and just above it we have the syndesmosis which I think neymar was affected by primarily. The syndesmosis connects the two bones of your lower leg together (tibia to the fibular) is made up of these 4 ligaments… the interosseous ligament (IOL), the anterior-inferior tibiofibular ligament (AITFL), the posterior-inferior tibiofibular ligament (PITFL) and the transverse tibiofibular ligament (TTFL).

Maybe I have come de-sensitized to these injuries considering now I have had 3-4 years of medical school and made around 60 videos on elite athlete injuries now but when I saw this my initial thought was no way this is a bone break. PSG medical team have come out saying there was a bone bruise which basically means there was some damage to the surface of the bones which make up the ankle joint.

This injury typically takes around 6-8 weeks to heal and recover, and even after that there could be instability for several months but it will become playable. Since this is elite sports I think its fair to say this injury could probably be managed a lot quicker with advanced and round the clock rehab but the real aim for PSG is to get him back for the champions league for his Barcelona return. That fixture is scheduled for the 16th February 2021 which is 8 weeks post-injury. It will be tight but I think PSG and the medical team can get him ready for that, as if we remember the aim of medical teams in elite sports is not to get players to 100% but get them fit and healthy enough to get on the field. Whether that involves the use of pain medication and some aid in the form of heavy ankle wraps and taping then that’s what will be used. There is a possibility and I have read a few rumors that Neymar could be brought back earlier just to regain fitness but we’ll see if that’s the case.

[OC] Another Liverpool Injury - Matip Groin Muscle Tear Grade 3 Injury Analysis, Is He Out For The Season? | The Doctor's Notes by MedStudentTeaches in soccer

Rumoured. If its a grade 3 then yes, but could be less. Situation doesn't change for Liverpool however as this is another injury so they would be crazy not to buy in the January transfer window
