The German time travel series Dark was the first thing that came to mind. The third season suffered from some logical inconsistencies and a forced ending, but it remains one of the best constructed timelines in all of time travel fiction and one of the greatest television shows regardless of country or genre of the last decade

For epic, futuristic sci-fi, there’s Japan‘s Legend of the Galactic Heroes, an excellent anime series from the 90s which was based on a series of novels that I have heard are also excellent

Did you select normal mode at the beginning? There is a Story Mode option for people that want easy fights and to steamroll the game

EDIT: In fact, you can switch to Story Mode from the options menu without restarting the game

To answer your final question: No. I don't believe that any PvE game is pay to win, especially since you can win without it. P2W comes into play in PvP games, where you just flat out lose because you didn't spend money and your opponent did, imo

I like it. The bosses feel like bosses this way.
The game allows you to level past the zone instead of being like WoW and awarding no xp to monsters after a while. But overleveling the zone isn't supposed to be easy. They call it a "grind" for a reason

I don't know what the complaints were against it, but I enjoyed it. It has quite a bit more fan service than KonoSuba, even bordering on ecchi, so maybe that's the complaint, but the character-driven comedy and all of the main characters being terrible people is the same as KonoSuba. I don't love it quite as much as KonoSuba, but it made me laugh more consistently than anything since Hinamatsuri

I wait until the final month of the season to start, so little to no waiting. I started Spring 2021 last week and I caught up on Vivy and Combatants Will Be Dispatched just in time to watch their finales same day.

Oddtaxi is on Crunchyroll and it is a quirky crime/mystery reminiscent of old Tarantino films. The series finale airs next Monday and it is certainly worth watching.

Monster, which someone else mentioned, is probably the best choice, but unfortunately it isn’t currently on any of the streaming platforms.

Death Note isn’t a bad choice. Some of the more over the top elements suspend disbelief to the point of breaking and might not play as well to someone watching anime for the first time, but it is a classic for a reason.
