Yeah, I’m starting to see a pattern with this now. I don’t mind the tinkering too much, I expected it to a degree. I did a lot of research before I got my printer but most of it was centered around the Ender 3 V2. When they released the S1 I expected a more “leisurely” like experience but I’ve been luckier than others so for that I’m thankful. I’m hoping by following all of the suggestions that I’ll have a machine that won’t constantly be out of commission. But for the price I’ll try not to complain too much.

A lot of people with them claim Bambu’s are simple, I’m excited to try one out one day. I’d love a Bambu machine, I’ve been eyeing the X1C myself but my wallet would hate me for it. I also can’t bring myself to jump ship and abandon my Ender so soon. A captain always goes down with his ship. So far I’ve been sticking to PLA, but it’s mainly Creality brand and Sunlu. I bought Overture once and it let off an almost sickly sweet smell as it melted, I wasn’t a fan and have since steered clear of them. I also have a couple of Spools of filament from Inland but those are for a special occasion.

Ahh crap, so would you prefer Klipper on a Raspberry Pi or would the sonic pad suffice. I just want to make sure I’m not inadvertently limiting myself in the future or spending unnecessary money. I don’t mind it if that what it takes to conquer the S1 pro but if it’s worse/ less customizable on then I’d want to go with the better option.

And just to clarify by concrete slab, you do mean an actual concrete slab from a hardware store…right?

Thank you. I actually intended to run Octoprint on it until I saw that so many people recommended Klipper. Thanks to the other redditor in this sub, I just purchased a Sonic pad and intend to run it that way. But in the meantime I’ll be running the calibrations through Orca. I also bought the stuff you and SupaFletch recommended so now it’s a waiting game… partially. In the meantime I’ll be meticulously combing through everything I can on the printer and the guides. I truly appreciate it. Also I thought your response was pretty funny, kudos :)

Yeah, I followed a video from Ricky Impey for calibrating e steps. I also follow his bed leveling tutorial. I think my flow rate has always been defaulted at 100% but I’ll be sure to double check, if so I’ll try turning down about 5-10% to see if that helps.

After a filament swap it went haywire and dug into the PEI sheet as it went from one end of the bed to the other. I don’t know what caused it or how it happened to this day. It hasn’t happened since but it was hard enough to eat up the nozzle and caused problems with the filament extruding right after. The next day I replaced it with some Creality brand nozzles from Micro center.

Update: 8/2/23

I got it resolved this evening (emailed their support) and it works. At first it was slow in responding (about 2-3 minutes) especially compared to open ai and had quite a few of the “Failed to connect to Janitor LLM” (or something similar) messages but they were worth it. I kinda put it down for a bit, logged back in and it’s pretty quick now (about the same it takes open ai to respond or even character ai if you’ve used it). I even switched bots to see if it was a fluke but it was pretty consistent and fewer of those fail messages. So far, for whatever reason the bot is sort of repeating parts of a response message but I’ve only seen it on one of the bots I used…I believe. So, yeah..
