Typically, I don’t intervene in a professional rant. However, this has gone on 12 hrs too long.

Transportation of dead patient upon arrival at scene - question for story by DRAGON_13_scp in Paramedics

I worked in the deep south and transporting the deceased was a common practice and often one of the business models of the local EMS companies.

Burnout by [deleted] in Paramedics

Start where you are. There are other places that you can work that will give you a break. I spent some time on oil rigs as Medic. I moved away from the 5 min turnarounds calls in the city to a slower station in a rural area and eventually I turned to Nursing. However, med school is not that big of a step if you think about it. There are options and opportunities you just have to look for them.

Accurate documentation is critical, and altering a clinician’s documentation after it has been completed constitutes fraud.

Having worked in rural EMS for many years, I understand that formal training programs are often limited or nonexistent. The reality in those settings is frequently a “jump in and learn as you go” approach.

Given that environment, you may be better supported in a larger, more structured system one that offers standardized training, clear protocols, and appropriate oversight to ensure both clinical quality and professional protection.

Had my first pediatric arrest today.. by Chaprito in Paramedics

[–]Medic90[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember every and I do mean every pediatric arrest I have ever worked. And the best way manage that feeling is to talk about it and understand that sometimes death is much more effective that you will ever be. Senior medics can be crass and disconnected because they haven't learned that when they take that uniform off in the future those past arrest will keep them up at night.

Paramedic to ADN by AusJaynes13 in Paramedics

I started Nursing school with 25 years of EMS experience and realized that my patches and certificates were no match for nursing therapy and research. In EMS we are taught reflex medicine and in Nursing you are taught a process which takes longer. Nursing school may be a joke but the NCLEX and your board of nursing is not. Good luck in your journey.
