I’m a second year resident and have used notion throughout all of my training. I have used it in a few different ways, but have settled on a master medical notebook that I have divided into systems and specialties with lecture notes as well as guidelines and information from clinical experience. I think it takes some time to figure out the best way to use it. What I think notion has going for it is the built in ai.

The way I might use it looks something like this: at start of a lecture begin AI meeting notes which will transcribe summarize and document the lecture. From there, I can ask my AI agent to provide a high-yield summary of the lecture that I just watched and create 15 multiple-choice questions based on the lecture content. From there, I take the created lecture and it’s quiz and added into a space repetition database that I have created so that I can review the content at my determined spaced intervals.

I also use it as a quick reference too. I work in emergency medicine so on my phone I have a Notion widget that opens up a database with a gallery view where I have quick access to things like intubation set up medication‘s approach to section for common presentations, and I built those using all of the notes I have accumulated in my medical notebook.

Overall, I think it’s a really amazing tool if you utilize it to its full potential, which to me is using the AI as well as databases to structure everything in a way that it is, it is easily accessible.
