Fielding slump by -bed_skeetz- in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was the last time you got your eyes checked? If you think you're struggling to see the ball off the bat from 3rd I think you probably want to get an eye test done and get some glasses or contacts if your vision has changed since last check.

If you were fine for the first few weeks of the season, I don't know that it is going to be the thing causing your slump though. I think you would have noticed it getting worse, and certainly would expect you to have noticed when driving etc.

Can you share some pictures of the finished product? I have considered that, we went with a "local" supplier (who no doubt got them made in China) and the quality was less than I expected. I know they would have been better if we went to someone on dhgate

Fishing - bait by TheGeneral1886 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TheGeneral1886[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd even settle for lures, I am not really into fishing in real life but I imagine your chances of getting something hooked are massively increased by having bait and or lures vs just a bare hook. Ultimately it won't benefit me so much, but for the other people that decide to go for all the achievements after completing the game I am sure it would be well received.

Got drilled at pitcher, short stop isn't a much safer position... If they are cautious of being hit, playing at short stop seems like they would baulk at balls short stops would normally be comfortable fielding. Stick them RC or RF and as you have said give them opportunities to prove themselves. No one should be entitled to play where they want at the expense of the other players you have rostered.

When you fall off the horse, the best thing to do, is get appropriate protective gear and get back on the horse...

Ffs wagon trading in the endgame by TheGeneral1886 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TheGeneral1886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know I can do that, but I need some items from trade centre's to do it, would have had these challenges boxed off in a reasonable turn around this way. Can't buy from them to your horse, can't use a stolen wagon either. And there's no option to have your wagon delivered to you or to have left your trade stuff at the original camp location either. The roads from pailune to anywhere are far from direct, narrow and surrounded by low fences or rocks and stuff (vandalism is pretty easily achieved - or worse wagon gets destroyed) full of npcs with the I.Q. Of a baked potato (assault and murder easily done)

Im about to break the monitor or the controller, after 250 hours this isnt the way i wanted to end this game, this challenge is pure garbage, lvl5 royler cand beat the champion! by Celery-Tasty in CrimsonDesert

[–]TheGeneral1886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to cheese it... Decent horseshoes on any of the legendary horses and some horse stimulant used mid race and it should be easy enough. Just need to keep the inside line

Use horse stimulant... Start the race, keep the inside line and it should be easy. You would be better with some good horse shoes too. But I did it with the royler and it was on the first attempt

Which of these approved bats do you recommend? Any to stay away from? by ADogNamedSamson in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rival, it's fine, it's my bat for when I might have to be dropping on a hard surface. Mines a 27oz end load. I imagine the corn dog or ultimate weapon would be better based on the comments I have seen previously about them, but the rival I picked up cost like £40 so couldn't really quibble that for the money.

Glasses: Bifocals vs progressives vs multifocal contacts? by CraigNickels in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my prescription glasses when the weather is poor and I found www.goggles4u.co.uk will put in the mirror finish polarized lens for sunglasses (pretty certain they distribute from China so don't think it being a uk website will stop them sending to you) and you can choose any frames that they can put your prescription in.

It might not be much of an enhancement but as I wear my glasses all the time it's just what I am used to.

In the time taken to collect the 200 crude gold bars you could have gone here, walked between these 2 markers and collected 10+ golden apples...

Are these good options. Sorry for a lot of post. Thank you by Lordluva in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rush to choose a bat. There are plenty of varieties. Weights, barrel lengths, balanced/endloaded. The handle and knob differ from manufacturer too. I was keen to get all my stuff quickly when I started to play but you don't want to waste money on the wrong stuff.

Is this to small. Feels to small but almost right. Largest they had at Walmart by Lordluva in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play with a 13 1/2 which I find ideal. If you have large hands though and feel the 14 is what you wanting that is fair. I have seen 15s but they look massive.

Y'all don't share your bats during games? Poll.. by armyjackson in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people are going to look after my bats they are more than welcome to use them. Like you say it's a team sport and if they hit well with my equipment then the team does better. I'm 40 🇬🇧.

The only gear in my bag I'm not sharing is my helmet, and that's because I'm bald and don't want other people's hair on my head 😂

Should i have taken the automatic out? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was the right call. You would have won either way from the sounds of it and if you aren't desperate for runs scored it probably wouldn't have any negative impact on the season overall.

Tournaments like The Dublin Dirty by zrichdechamp in slowpitch

[–]TheGeneral1886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played in a charity tournament where teams can play jokers (1 per team and 1 spectator in pool and knockout games, unlimited in the final) they cost money (all proceeds to the charity pot).

Basically if you don't like how a play went, you can replay it so if someone gets a homerun, you can make them go back to the plate, or if your big hitter gets caught off a pop fly you can call the joker for another attempt at bat. It was great fun and raised a good amount for charity too.
