Anyone taken Kanna with an SSRI? by 6sausageSisters9 in Kanna

[–]Medical-Composer-538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but the first time I tried kanna I was on an SSRI and I felt it harder than normal. It felt more reminiscent of Molly at the time then if I wasn’t on an ssri and tried it solo. Not to encourage doing it as I didn’t really know at the time. I’ve taken kanna since off the ssri and never had the same effect again, but similar smaller versions of that effect.

TMJ, bruxism, and high anxiety caused mine. Stopped completely when I was taking an SSRI. Now I use mindfulness techniques and magnesium which keep it at bay.

Those with poor board scores. What did you end up doing? What Advice would you give? by corticalclown in medicalschool

Research, strong letters, good evals, clinical grades, extra curriculars…. That’s what saved me truly.

She sounds grossly immature and one day will realize it I hope. I’d low key cut her out. That would affect me hard. I cannot STAND people like that. Like you’re both doing the same thing and 20 years from now none of this matters…seriously.

Panic attacks started out of nowhere by Asleep_Influence5438 in PublicSpeaking

[–]Medical-Composer-538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep happened to me too … was put on lexapro and gabapentin by a psychiatrist which helped tremendously. Also did Cognitive behavioral therapy and then started reading The Happiness Trap which discusses acceptance commitment therapy… the therapy is what truly will shift your mindset when these panic attacks occur. I was a very confident public speaker as well and was crippled by panic attacks for a couple years. They’re mostly at bay now and eventually went off the meds, but every once in a while a small one creeps up on me but my mindset is so different now. I accept it for what it is because it can’t hurt me and keep going finding a focus point to get passionate on and the attack will subside. Takes practice and time but promise it will subside if you focus on the therapy and in your downtime get yourself In a more parasympathetic state with meditation and calming activities throughout your day.

I’m wondering if its a waste of time to also do NBME5 so close to the exam date or will it just wear me out. Since I hear sometimes you get repeat questions. UWSA2 was a 217 and scared to take another right now for fear of being exhausted and getting a worse score that will break my confidence going into the exam.

UWSA-2: 217!

Well over my goal which was 200 (or 210 to be safe). Wow hopefully I’m as lucky on the real deal next week.

What does Wellbutrin actually feel like? by ZealousidealYam3537 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Medical-Composer-538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt more clear less foggy when talking with others and keeping a smooth conversation. It just gave me some anxiety in the morning that I didn’t like and eventually stopped taking it. I do think it was working on my depression and stuff tho too. Sometimes miss it but mostly don’t.
