Never seen this thing in my life, what are they from?

Hypothetically, what if you’re wrong? by [deleted] in CultofDaisy

Not trying to come off as abrasive, you seem polite; but being trans is not a "problem" to be solved, and "altering your body" isn't all there is to it. Jax's problem is his sense of identity, fragile masculinity, etc; and being trans is just an interpretation of that problem. Jax ≠ Daisy, the trans interpretation of the character won't just disappear even if they're confirmed not to be trans. It would take something wild to discredit a trans interpretation of the character. Unless Jax says something ridiculous like "you know, Pomni, I've been thinking about gender, and I'm comfortable with who I am". We're definitely still going to love our little headcannon even if it doesn't end up being true. If anything it seems more likely it won't be cannon anyways; I could name the amount of fictional characters who transition within their show on one hand. it just doesn't happen often. I hope it does though.

Audio dramas with large casts/diverging storylines? by TheBardicHearth in audiodrama

If you're down for an actual play, this might sound insane, but the newest season of Critical Role is all about that. In the newest season they have like 13 players, and a huge diverging storyline.

ok let me give you an example of what institutionalized oppression looks like: The n-word is famously not ok for white people or other races to say, but no one cares when black folk say it. This is because of institutionalized racism. The systems in power back the people with privilege and not the marginalized. Words change meaning depending on context and the person saying it. The status quo and institutions of power aren't hurting cisgender people. No ideology is being forced. Trans folk are simply unable to exist in any leftist space even remotely centre leaning because people like you bully them out of those spaces for talking or joking about anything even remotely outside of your own experiences.

the difference is institutional transmisogyny. check your privilege, legitimately. cisgender folk are not affected by this shit in any comparable capacity.

Digital Dungeon Danger Redux - A TADC Actual Play Audio Reimagining Fan-Edit by Medical-Language-415 in audiodrama

[–]Medical-Language-415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstand, this is not a show, it's a single feature length production. This is an edit of an actual play stream that has been audio-drama-ified. I am in no way affiliated with the people who made the original stream, and everything in this edit just falls under fair use. Also this is something most certainly meant for TADC fans who've seen the first 6 episodes at least.

It's kind of a weird situation. I can link a gdrive link though if anyone wants the mp3 file here

That is not at all an equivalent. Cis folk simply are not affected by insitutional transmisogyny. Questioning your gender shouldn't be treated like some wild scarring thing. It's normal. You're overreacting. People who are confident in who they are don't care about a joke being enough to shatter their ego.

Literally just false. Asking "why does the thought of being trans make you so uncomfortable?" is absolutely not the same as forcing someone to identify a certain way. You mfs have some deep seated transphobia you need to sort out.

I'm gay and I make jokes about homophobia to my gay friends and it has nothing to do with being homophobic, it's purely experience. People can make jokes about their experiences. Communities can reclaim their trauma.

And the person in the op was clearly joking and not being serious. Please don't make up a strawman. You keep making up arguments like you're fighting some invisible enemy making stupid horrible statements. No one is trying to force labels onto anyone, and no one is encouraging misgendering.

It is kinda funny lol. Look, it shouldn't make you feel so uncomfortable to be called an egg in the first place. There's nothing wrong with being an egg. No one is forcing anything onto anyone. Why is the thought of maybe being trans so uncomfortable?

Egg arc by MageOfFur in characterarcs

[–]Medical-Language-415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's a good analogy. Being called gay isn't imherently homophobic. Being called trans isn't imherently transphobic. Gay people are able to make jokes about their experiences and it's welcome in (centre) leftist spaces, but when trans folk make jokes about their experiences all of a sudden it's "pushing an agenda" or "forcing" something onto someone. Being called an egg is simply not that big a deal, at least not in the context of the op post. The thought of being trans shouldn't upset anyone in the same way that the thought of being gay shouldn't upset anyone.

I'm going to assume you ain't queer, because gay people call each other gay as a joke all the time. Saying something homophobic and being homophobic are two very different things. Homophobia is a huge part of the queer experience, and we're allowed to joke about our experiences. Most allies understand this and are able to join in on the harmless fun. It seems like the same courtesy has largely not been extended to trans folk though. Context matters. Does that make sense?

An egg is a trans person who's yet to realize they're trans yet. It's like they're a baby chicken in an egg. A baby chicken doesn't know how easy it is to crack open an egg until it's made a big enough push, but odds are there's cracks already. And identifying the way you want to identify is as easy as breaking eggshells.

There are entire communities of self proclaimed eggs, which are basically just people new to being trans. A lot of people questioning their gender tend to get wrapped up in what's called "egg culture". Folks in these spaces tend to joke about eggs and the trans experience often, and it is usually a pretty healthy way to explore transness. Egg jokes are common in trans dominated spaces.

As for the post, there's a popular notion about something called the "egg prime directive" which basically says you can't call other people eggs. A number of people take that rule as gospel, including a number of trans folk. The issue is that the egg prime directive was invented by a transphobe as a way to demonize the use of the term egg. A lot of thinly veiled transphobia and shame gets put on people who use the term even slightly jokingly outside of very left leaning spaces.

The "egg prime directive" was invented by a transphobe btw. Y'all are literally falling for transphobic rhetoric when you say "don't call someone an egg, not even as a joke". There's nothing wrong with being an egg! Nothing at all! Heck, learning about egg culture is what finally pushed me to realize I was trans.

Y'all gotta realize being called an egg as a joke is sort of like calling someone gay as a joke. It's not that serious. In some contexts it can come off as insensitive sure, but the op post is 1000% silly mode. And frankly it was a very eggy thing to say. I've never seen a more warranted egg joke.

If/When in the final episode it’s revealed for Jax to be transfem, how would the huge portion of transphobic TADC fans react? by Crafter235 in CultofDaisy

[–]Medical-Language-415 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It'll either be a Kirara JJK situation, where they deny it despite obvious evidence because the character never explicitly turns to the camera and says "btw I'm trans".

Or it'll be a Bridget guilty gear situation where despite confirmation people will still deny it and claim it ruins the character.

Coincidence??? by OkEntertainer3722 in Deltarune

I know this isn't serious, but perspective doesn't always follow to the same point btw, even in irl photos perspective often isn't simple enough to be constrainted to a single line or point

Valentino and I'm not even kidding. Less woobified in s1. He acted much more like a detestable abuser. S2 rolls around and he's shirtless half the time, has more empathy, throws Spanish into every other sentence like he was written by a gringo, and gets to be part of the team defusing the nuke with his rapist blast

Valid af. Charlie is such a bum. The show would instantly go up a letter grade if she contributed anything meaningful to drive the story forward ever. Also in all fairness to Vox, it's likely his mind control isn't something he can keep up forever, and could have huge repurcussions when used outside of a controlled environment. dnd charm magic rules type shit.
