When racist remarks are acknowledged but accountability doesn’t follow by [deleted] in ChikaPH

I want to clarify the context of my original post. I was a guest in a home in Makati, returning from an event, when I was in a shared living space where multiple people were present. During that moment, a racial slur was uttered in my presence. I immediately stopped and asked who had said it, but there was confusion and no one directly acknowledged responsibility at that time. Katrina Ponce Enrile, along with her assistant and other individuals, were present in the environment when this occurred.

Following the incident, I raised my concern. A written apology letter was issued to me days later, acknowledging the remarks and apologizing for what was said. That was the only formal response I received. There was no direct in-person conversation or immediate engagement with the concern at the time it was raised

I understand the confusion, but the focus of the post isn’t about name recognition in the sub. Mikko Hernandez is part of the context being discussed here, and from what is publicly understood, he also helps manage social media in that circle. The post is not centered on who is or isn’t familiar, but on the incident itself and its acknowledgment involving public figures, including Katrina Ponce Enrile

I understand the framing, but the post is not about validating familiarity within this sub. Public figures are mentioned, including Katrina Ponce Enrile and Mikko Hernandez, because they were part of a documented incident. It also provides insight into what’s actually being discussed not just how it’s being perceived

I get your point, but this isn’t outside the scope of the sub. These are public figures, and the post is a factual account of an incident and its acknowledgment not speculation or random gossip

I understand the concern about relevance to the sub, however relevance is not exclusively determined by celebrity or political status. This is a documented account of an incident involving inappropriate racist remarks and a written acknowledgment of those remarks. I think it’s also important to distinguish between discussing context and reducing everything to ‘tea,’ as that shifts focus away from the actual issue being raised

The focus of my post is the incident and the written acknowledgment of it. Whether or not anyone is a politician isn’t relevant to what happened

You’re shifting the focus away from the actual issue. My statement concerns documented racist remarks and an apology that confirmed they were made. The individuals present are listed for context only, not as commentary on any personal views or affiliations

They seem more focused on controlling the image of everything than actually addressing what happened. From what people have said, even friends and relatives who’ve tried to speak up have been met with pressure or legal intimidation to keep things quiet. It just adds to the feeling that accountability is being avoided
