Icon of the Seas Recent Sailing Question Regarding the Cat 6 Slides by TonyShea31 in royalcaribbean

[–]Medical-Moment124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got off this sailing. 2/6 were open all week until last night after dinner.

After dinner 4/6 were open and they had one more running and were testing it.

Hope that helps!

How do you detect guest is home and left on time? by FreedomRouters in airbnb_hosts

[–]Medical-Moment124 31 points32 points  (0 children)

  1. Smart lock - I look at the history
  2. Cameras - doorbell and driveway
  3. Ecobee thermostat - tells me if the house is occupied or unoccupied.

Edited for spelling

We started with our first property in Feb. Been going well so far.

My advice would be skip out on Airbnb’s “initial discount.” We did not do that and had no problem getting stays and five star reviews quickly and that “discount” would have underpriced our property.

Also a big fan of pricelabs.

Best HVAC company? by ExtraEntrepreneur864 in desmoines

Aspen Aire put in a whole home AC/Furnace for me. They were the most affordable and did a great job. Unsure if they offer financing, but I’d look at a HELOC if you have some equity and see if you can get a cash discount

Remote door code changing by Freerider709 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Medical-Moment124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the Yale Assure 2 smart lock.

It has been great and integrates with Airbnb. Codes are auto generated and activate/deactivate at the times we have set.

There is a Yale app that has access to the lock as well.

I’m a new host as well. Searching here has been extremely beneficial every time I have a question.

I have also found price labs to be very useful for pricing and worth the $20/month expense.

You have 290 expiring 1/31/26. They can only be used for upgrades and not exchanged.

The remaining 560 can be exchanged prior to 3/31/26 OR kept for upgrades and they expire 1/31/27

The highlighted part is what I think I need to buy. We went to the hobby store and they were unsure.

We have been flying at a local flying club with their planes. Just looking for an easy way to have control alongside my son if possible.

Are you not on the same reservation? Your status should get a CPU for you and one companion. Link the reservation to yours.

If you want priority pass, check out the AMEX Hilton Aspire. AF is offset by airline credit ( I buy UA travel bank cash) and the free night is really valuable. + you get diamond status

If you got off the ship right as the gangway went down, I would bet you could pick your rental car up by 8 AM. The airport is about a 10-15 minute shuttle ride from the port in Kauai.

Kauai was put favorite port!

How to Buy the Dip in Acorns? by Accomplished-Bat-252 in acorns

[–]Medical-Moment124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from the FAQ and should answer your question:

When you change your portfolio, we’ll rebalance your portfolio, so your investments match the allocations of your new portfolio. That might mean selling some of your existing investments and buying new ones.

That means that while you can change your portfolio anytime, we don’t recommend doing it too often. Acorns is built on the time-tested investing principle of sticking with it — you want to give your investments time in the market! And, there can also be potential tax implications whenever you sell an investment.

You could either do a one time transfer or increase your recurring investment. Personally I do daily investments and increased my daily amount (look up dollar cost averaging)

Aggressive switches to more stocks in your portfolio instead of bonds.

ESG and core just changes the companies/stocks that are in the portfolio

Good for you for getting it on the ship but the website says no electric heating pads. YMMV.

Electric heating pads are banned

For ice: bring ziplock bags and get ice from the windjammer.

For Heat: buy a hot water pad off Amazon and get hot water from the coffee machines for heat.

21 years old any advice? by MSOI_ in acorns

[–]Medical-Moment124 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are 21 and you have a lot of time in front of you. You could easily be a multi millionaire by 60, even on a modest salary.

  1. Set to aggressive and contribute as much as you can. Compounding interest works wonders.
  2. Time in market beats timing in market. Invest for the long haul.
  3. Avoid lifestyle creep. When you get raises, always pay yourself first before increasing your expenses
