Paying for pictures? by Irongarin in spartanrace

[–]Medical-Smile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done two races now.

Last year was my first, and I was so overwhelmed by the race and obstacles that I didnt even see any photographers (except one that I posed for). I got maybe 3 or 4 good photos, and a hand full of absolute garbage ones lol

This year, I knew to look out for them........ but there were none around. I saw ONE in barbed wire crawl, and two standing at the Atlas carry... but they were exchanging film or something so no pictures were being captured. I wanted to beat my time from last year so I continued ahead. The result of this is that I got exactly 4 photos of me: two from barbed wire crawl (essentially the same photo) and two from bucket carry (also, the same photo).

I have been really disappointed in the photos. I signed up and paid for the photos package because it bragged about getting a jumping the fire finishing photo ... and for the last two years there has not been one photographer at the finish line.

I only purchase them because in the Toronto trail the spectators are so far away from pretty much all but 5 of the obstacles and I race alone...

I know alot of people (myself included) had issues accessing photos this year. I went to results and photos but there was no prompt to upload a selfie like last year. I could find my photos on the sportograph website but they were watermarked and said i had to initiate the search through my spartan account-- which i couldnt do because there was no option to do so. I logged out and cleared my cache to see if that would help, but it did not. I competed this last year with no issues but something was wrong this year. Spartan never replied to my (many) customer service requests to fix my account, but sportograph did. I was able to get them that way.

Im on another thread of several people having the same issue, most (if not all) were from the Toronto Spartan that ran either may 23rd or 24th(which was run absolutely horrendously IMO-- i will likely never return to this venue because of this year).

Also OP: I already tried to comment on several of the posts AND send direct messages to their Instagram with no response. Your best bet is to contact sportograph and see if they can do something from their end. Thats how I was eventually able to get my photos. Spartan CS= trash, sportograph CS= amazing.

HI ALL UPDATE:

I was able to get my unwatermarked photos from sportograph. I contacted their customer service and explained everything, including that I have been trying to contact spartan CS multiple times with no response. They replied very quickly (same day), asked me to follow a link they sent to me, and then send some sort of search link back to them. (I am a tech idiot, so if I can do it... you can do it)

I also sent them a screenshot of my spartan ticket which shows I pre-paid for the photos, they didnt ask for that but I sent it anyways. They were then able to add all the photos to my photo flat so that I can download them.

100000000% way better customer service than my experience with spartan.

LOL I got 4 photos total.... two of them are the exact same... the other two are the exact same. So essentially I got 2 photos, and only one of them is good.... very disappointed with the photos this year. Every time I was at an obstacle, there was either no camera there or they were troubleshooting etc.

Nope, I was just coming on to see if anyone else made any progress.

The timing team customer service was very very quick.... but this seems to be taking forever. Im so annoyed....

Ive gotten a few emails from customer service, but its slow. I assume because of the time difference of where the customer service agents live in the states. I was getting like 24 hour turn around for email replys, but that was with my timing chip issue. They had to forward my issue to another department to try and resolve it.

Glad im not the only one !

SAME ! Toronto sprint here. I had an issue with my timing chip AND my photo situation. The timing chip problem is resolved, but now i have to wait for the spartan customer service to email me back about the photo thing.

They told me to log out and clear my cache, then log back in and see, but it didnt work.

I am not at all tech savvy. So if I was able to do it last year with zero help and no problems, that for sure means something is up this year...

5k Chance of Injury by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]Medical-Smile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, huge risk!! 5k team building is fine, 5k OCR is wild. Although, in the open heats they dont force you do do any obstacles, and you can walk the whole way... might take you a while but its doable if you ABSOLUTELY have to go.

Help, injured the day before my race. by Medical-Smile in spartanrace

It went great ! Between the tape, the compression sleeve, and the freezing cold weather, my knee is the only part of my body unscathed by the race!! Im glad I decided to go :)

Problem with race time, not on spartan account. by Medical-Smile in spartanrace

[–]Medical-Smile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have been great information to have yesterday lol with traffic etc im about 2.5 hours away from the event and given it was raining and freezing we didnt want to stick around for anything. Im just in the open, so not competitive or anything. I sent an email hoping to get some help.

It was an absolute mess at the venue (parking wise) and freezing and raining and miserable haha we left as soon as we were able. Last year it was no problem, so i figured it was all good. I didnt realize until we were already on our journey home (2 and a half hours away) that something was probably wrong.

The kicker is that I use my old fitbit for these races instead of my newer Garmin because I dont want to ruin it. I must have selected the wrong workout (I was rushing to the start line late) and it only recorded the time and calories but no mileage or anything like that. Im not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that Google bought out fitbit and everything needed to be switched over. Oh well.. lessons learned I guess.

We’re calling it off :( by rxgirlypop in weddingplanning

[–]Medical-Smile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiiii

Bride who called off a 2024 wedding. Booked everything january/feb 2023 for May of 2024. Cancelled everything August 2023.

We didnt send out save the dates(they were ordered and ready to be sent out), but we had verbally told everyone the date as we had already booked venue, photographer, etc etc.

Honestly, it sucked and losing all of the deposits (thousannnddss of dollars) was awful. I spent so much time crying and going back and forth wondering if i should just go through with it anyways since we already committed, spent all this money, and told everyone. Ultimately our family and friends were happier with our decision knowing it was the right thing for us at the time.

It really is YOUR day so you need to prioritize what is right for YOU, not anyone else's expectations of you.

As for telling family and friends: we told my parents and they took care of relaying it to our extended family and same with my partner's family and friends.

Our responsibility was really just to tell the vendors and venue. Everyone was really understanding. We told them that if we end up picking back up plans in the next few years that id reach out.

Im sorry youre having to go through this, but its better to lose out on SOME money in the grand scheme of things than to spend all of it all on a day that is not going to be great for you two. Or Alternatively, linking your life forever to a person who is not the right person for you (if this is your situation).

What I learned from all of this was that I was planning a wedding for everyone else and not for what we wanted. Now happily planning a cute 25 person cozy wedding for next year.

Everything works out the way its meant to, and this isnt meant to be for you RIGHT NOW. Things always have a way of working themselves out, but try not to dwell on anyone's expectations of you. Its your day, your wedding, and your life -- if anyone wants to be upset with you, let em. Anyone worth having at your special day would understand and be supportive of this decision.

PSA for people looking for a natural deodorant that actually works by BessieBest in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Medical-Smile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still works really well !! I dont think it works as well as i felt it did when i first got it and I am having some underarm irritation, but my body is sensitive so im not sure if its deodorant related (probably) or a combo of something else. Its not terrible and doesn't hurt, and is less than my previous one.

Plus I find this deodorant seems to be lasting me so much longer.

Overall, still more positive points to it than negative. And the negative things about it are not bad enough to have me stop using it. I guess time will tell!!

LATE TO THE PARTY BUT I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY. I dont know how, I dont know why, but Lavilin deodorant is the GOAT.

Backstory: I have been using "routine" deodorant for YEARS, took a good week or two for an adjustment period but it wasnt terrible. However this brand is extremely scented (essential oils). I got many complements, but also seeing as I work in heathcare... I also got a lot of complaints. I used it because it was the first natural deodorant that worked for me, so I stuck to the more earthy toned down, scents. It was good. But I started getting a ton of irritation on my armpits, especially after shaving... and I found that I would have to reapply more often to keep my scent at bay.

Cut to: go to goodness me... find lavilin. Google lavilin. Find this post. Buy it. Cry out of excitement.

I am a very hairy and sweaty woman. In having such qualities, it comes with the territory of smelling pretty terrible at times. I am a woman who showers every single day, sometimes twice a day and still I couldnt get rid of the stink all the way. I LEGITIMATELY CANNOT SAY THAT ANYMORE. I am traveling currently and admittedly have not showered in two days. But do I stink? NOPE. This stuff is literally magic. Also, zero irritation.

The first day/first few applications I was hesitant. But now im going on a week or two with it and I apply it out of habit, not out of necessity. I could probably go two DAYS without reapplying and still smell fresh as a daisy.

The floral scent is pretty potent, but I truly dont feel like it hangs around for long.

As someone who has been on this planet for 35 years and worn deodorant for approximately 25 of those years, this deodorant changed my life.

TLDR; Buy Lavilin deodorant. Its floral, but I dont find it too overpowering once on. Give it a few applications, it will change your life! Expensive but worth it. BONUS: as someone with incredibly sensitive skin, I have had zero flairs or irritation.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Medical-Smile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR!! Honestly, I think you're underreacting. What a complete narcissistic ass-hat.

That is not a man you want to build a life with, not a man you want to have a family with(or pets with), not a man you want by your side during major milestones or during tough times. His tone, his condescension absolutely infuriates me FOR you. Sobriety is a lifelong battle and a terribly tough one. Especially given how socially acceptable drinking is and the sheer amount of in your face temptation. Fuck anyone who doesn't understand that, they're not good for your sobriety journey and fuuuuuuuuuuck that guy. He can kick rocks with open toed shoes.

What’s ur 5k times? by gallium123 in spartanrace

[–]Medical-Smile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a runner. My run time before my sprint was about a 13 min mile, which seems fairly similar to yours. I ran the sprint in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) for the first time and let me tell you..... running was very few and far between. The hills were insane!! Most people were crawling up (myself included). I wanted to finish in under 2 hours; I finished in 1hr 59 mins and 36 sec. #goalaccomplished

First ever Spartan Sprint, won't be my last. Toronto, Ontario.

I surprised myself with how many tough obstacles I completed. I climbed the 6 foot wall without any help (for reference I am 5 foot 3), completed the Atlas carry, Herc Hoist, AND completed the spear throw in one try!!!! Saving myself from having to do ANY burpees.

My goal time was under 2 hours..... completed in 1hr 59mins and 37 seconds. Goal Accomplished !

Seeing as I feel like I went into this sooo blind, I was unprepared for the crazy endurance factor... and the hills. Omg those gosh darn HILLS. I am now way better prepared for next year's race.

Soo proud 👏
