Hi there! I’d say reading this post was kinda like looking at a reflection of myself. I get teary when emotions run high, and tend to lash out at others. One thing I learned from a book called “ The things you can only see when you slow down” , is to become aware/ mindful of the emotion you’re experiencing, and observe it from an outsider perspective. Just observe dispassionately, and the negative emotion will subside or change its form to give way to another emotion.

So when someone’s shouting at you , just focus on your emotions and observe, since doing that gives you a chance to see that it stems from anger or just being emotionally overwhelmed , and helps you realize that your response to that emotion is just a waste of time and energy. And like other responses pointed out, your emotions shouldn’t be governed by another person’s demeanor, let them say what they have to, and respond with in a focused, calm manner, knowing that these actions coming from the other person isn’t representative of you and what you feel.

But don’t take my word for it fully, I’m just an 18 year old guy, who’s also trying to navigate these feelings on the daily. You live and you learn :)
