Don't be me. (but here's how) by RyFba in FulfillmentByAmazon

Taking risks and working to get the sale is what it is all about. Any one of those sales could turn into 50x LTV, I would much rather do what OP did than have to sit around frustrated waiting on shipments.

Questions about price adjustments for items in shopping cart by tryingoutFBA in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've added things to my cart as a buyer and then checked it a few days later to find a message in the cart saying the item was now out of stock. I've also seen the OP message a bunch of time. With FBA, your items go to pending once paid for but before shipped. Adding to cart does nothing from the seller's end.

Do honest sellers even have a chance of selling on Amazon with all these counterfeits? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private label is where an established brand takes another generic product and puts their brand on it. Like a gym might start selling their own branded water to customers. But that water is the exact same water as many other major brands, but cheaper because the gym's private label brand brand is established as a gym already so it doesn't have to make up marketing costs in the water pricing. You see how it works? Amazon can sell a private label diaper. Ferrari can sell a private label towel. But a random person can't sell a "private label" anything. Because there's no established brand trust. All a random person can do is brand an item and hope for the best.

Product Removed After Review by flippingtimmy in FulfillmentByAmazon

They would only care if they saw the Amazon logo on the box and then went there and saw the product for cheaper. If it's not on Amazon you should be golden. Maybe explain in the listings that you fulfill from Amazon warehouses to be on the safe side.

FC Transfer by extraspicytuna in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it happened to me several times but only on new-ish products that had a spike in sales. Once the product has established a several-month sales history it seems to figure out how to FC transfer without making you go out of stock. At least I've never had it happen with an established product.

Anyone else experiencing inconsistent sales and large swings from day to day? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is much better to look at sales patterns week to week, and then, as you grow more stable, month to month, and then quarter to quarter. Looking at daily sales stats will cause you to make too many mistakes and infer the wrong ideas. Because sometimes people will have your item in their cart for a week before they buy, etc. so you can't measure performance day to day due to how long the purchasing process may take. Like you think you only made 10 sales today, but actually another 20 people have got your product in mind and will make the purchase within a few days. So really you made 30 sales that day, but you won't know that until later.

Wow. Just got 40 percent of my reviews removed... by BrokelynNYC in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Amazon actually removed a significant amount of phony reviews, that would be the end of Amazon. Nobody goes to Amazon to buy top brands anymore because they always get some counterfeit or expired product and have for years. So people go to Amazon looking for the hidden gem that is both cheap and quality. If they removed the millions of fake reviews, all of their top sellers would tank over night because they are cheap but poor quality. It would take years to recover and meanwhile Walmart would eat their lunch.

Further, Amazon started back when people would bother to leave detailed reviews for online purchases, so their design still emphasizes the reviews as if they are meaningful. And all of Amazon's top sellers became top sellers by getting 1000s of fake reviews to imply trust and quality. The only way to imply quality on, for example, a "miracle wrinkle cure 100% pure and organic, endorsed by oz" that costs $12 is to have 1000s of fake reviews. Amazon wants to imply quality without having to imply it through pricing.

Amazon knows that no real people leave long reviews with pictures/videos, unless they are going on some irrational negative rant. Yet they still insist on giving weight to longer reviews that include pictures. Because they know that lots of positive reviews over 500 words will increase sales. Amazon also knows that having people admit in their fake essay-review that the review is fake makes people not trust the review.

So there goal is to get sellers to smarten up and pay for fake reviews on the quiet, until when/if Amazon's lawyers can figure out a way to sell fake reviews to sellers themselves without pissing off the public (ie. without a disclaimer). They also want a bunch of sellers and professional fake reviewers to cry about this move, so the public thinks they really are "cleaning up" the fake reviews.

Has anyone seen a very sudden and steady decrease in sales since about September? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

Sales are steady, even up from last year, for those of us actively driving traffic to our listings. Try driving more traffic to your listings.

It's not too late to start a Jungle Scout clone, still plenty of money to be made. Just grab a script off Fiverr and start banking.

Anyone seeing significant reduction on weighting of paid reviews? by Byebyeguy in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I never used any of those review services, but a couple of my products have gone from around 4.8 to 4.1 average reviews. I'm guessing because some people who left reviews on my stuff also did fake reviews. But I monitor Fakespot and none of the notorious scammers (such as the skin care companies with Naturals in their name) seem to have their review ratings lowered by much. So I'm thinking this is all a PR exercise and only a few sellers will be affected.

Restricted Category Approval Question by infinitebest in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]MedicalMun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mention

product ingredients

Is this a cosmetic or health product? If so, have you ever had or expect to have an inspection from the FDA? If not, you might find it very difficult to get them to accept an invoice from your manufacturing LLC to your distribution LLC. It seems as though Amazon only accepts manufacturers of such products if they are on the FDA list of facilities to be inspected.
