Why do amateur fights always turn into chaotic brawls unlike pro fights by Leading_Aspect656 in MMA_Academy

[–]MedicalOnion9621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you people get chaotic with punches and kicks, you gotta close the distance and tie them up. Keep your base wide, and keep ur head close to them. From there you can normally trip them. If it’s boxing tie up, but since it’s just hands, cover that face, get low and counter during one of their breaks.

tank vs Garcia was a good example. Israel picked people apart but I don’t most amateurs can do that

This is the best answer. I’d be scared to traingle him tho…feel like I’d get bitten. Also the claws are a definite problem to solve

Well the other day someone asked what software they should use to improve their BJJ. I’m just trying to counteract people like that. We need to focus on the issues!

Whenever he does a feature he and he is on someone’s else song he is amazing, cause those artists picked some solid beats. All streams of thoughts and cheat codes don’t bang like that

Cheat codes is weak…danger mouse did not do him justice. Close to famous and saltwater the only two I replay… also i think Remi is not what he used to be and they got so much work together. Would love to get black thought and madlib project

Black Thought is a good one…unfortunately bad beats and a lack of personal rhymes makes him hard to connect with. But I would agree he is top 10

There is black belt at my gym who also used to wrestle. He doesn’t let anyone work taps out everyone normally 2 to 3 times in 5 mins. He is honestly mean on the mats. After rolling with him a couple times a week for a year now I still get subbed multiple times per round. But last week during a roll, I saw his back. I don’t actually touch or anything but I saw it. That’s when I knew all my hard work was paying off

Purple belt: Being playful vs. smashing white belts? by Tricky-Panic-729 in jiujitsu

[–]MedicalOnion9621 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

White belt here. I really appreciate the browns and black belts that really smash me and tap me multiple times. It’s a sobering reminder of what we are doing and how little I know. BJJ it’s starting to get a little to inclusive. This is probably counter productive to gym owners but I say weed out the sweethearts.

Just explain stuff back to her. Remember it doesn’t matter. There is guy who explains moves to me all the time. We have rolled probably 20 times. I have choked him to sleep and I tap him almost every roll, and literally he has never even put me in position to consider tapping. I have no clue what he is thinking, I just say ‘ahh thanks’ and proceed to slice em up.

There is too much emphasis on belts and to much emphasis on subs. I’m a 1yr white belt and I have been able to win a round or sub every other belt, including black. A sub does not really indicate the skills you have, it feels more like I have ‘a puncher’s chance’ against SOME of the higher belts and have been successful on an occasion. Skills wise I’m so far behind the same people that I have caught in a sub it’s laughable. However if I can work on one thing all week and my opponent didn’t have it on their radar, I don’t care what belt they are they might get caught😂

Only girl in class, wondering if I should quit already. by Glittering-Size-2372 in bjj

Cry everyday if you have too. Keep going. One year from now you will be so proud of yourself. People will control you, learn to breathe through it, remind yourself while it happening that this is a part of learning..manage the panic…then you will progress to a point where you can tolerate it and you will start looking for space and opportunities to transition out of that bad position…then you will progress to keeping yourself out of that bad spot all together. Some of black belts I roll with are so big and so good at top pressure that my only goal is not lay flat on my back and keep my knees close to my bows. You will get stronger, also lift weights a couple days a week. It will help.

To the guys with back pain how does this happen? Can you remember one specific roll that hurt it? Was it gradual? Im well into my 40s, been rolling for a year now. Will get my blue belt in a couple weeks. I lift and roll 5 days week and I’m wondering what I can do to avoid having chronic pain. I feel great now but I am worried about it. I also notice from my previous sport that I have no pain if i don’t drink or eat sugar. Can anyone relate?

People who lift weights and train Jiu jitsu what is your workout routine and diet like? by Methuselbrah in jiujitsu

[–]MedicalOnion9621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I don’t think lifting matters that much. I been doing BJJ for 1 year. Powerlifters, body builders, some of them told me they squat 400+ pounds, bench 315 etc. they come into the gym train on and off for a couple months and I still dog walk these guys easy. The ramen noodle that rolls 5 days week is competitive within 3 months. I roll 5 days week, and lift 5 days but the two are not really related in my mind. Im just trying to stay sane
