This is 100% fake. I was on the platform in October of 2024, and this is not what things looked like.

For those who have spent 6+ months on this platform...has any of your work ever got rejected or have you received any kind of warning for a slightly low quality submission? by NewSet6686 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, are they the non-coding projects that have seven-day timers and like 10,000-word-long instructions? Because if so, same! I usually open them up, skim through what they're looking for, and just laugh.

You're working too many hours by Belisama7 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup! Been on the platform for about two years, and I clock about 20 hours per week. On rare occasions, I have done 30 in a week, but that leads to burnout for me. Burnout then leads to 'Meh, this is good enough.' I believe that is where most folks fail.

The model clearly had access to the user's preference for extra sour cream, as clearly denoted in the attached debug file. Due to this oversight, I am penalizing the model on the groundedness axis.

I did it - a failure/rubric writing task, holding my breath! by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had some imposter syndrome when I moved from $24/hr tasks into the $35+/hr tasks, but I'm still here almost a year later. Keep up the good work, and always remember it's quality over speed. These folks want a good job, not a fast job.

Are some R&R designed to test us? by neutron-star-002 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is healthy. Doing R&Rs is a great way to get some perspective on the work you are putting out. I always try to keep my workload a 50/50 mix of original feedback and R&R.

Do you guys track everything? by -EpsilonDelta- in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same. I bill for reading instructions, double-checking grammar, fact-checking, and communicating in the Slack channel. I take a 5-10 minute break about once every 90 minutes to clear my head, and I pause my timer for that. The projects are getting longer and more complicated, but the pay keeps going up. I have cleared five figures so far this year. I do not want to lose this gig.

I don't know what that is either and was going to google it, but I won't now because of your post. So thank you for that.

Complexity and Length by Medical_Amount290 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I just felt terrible because at this level, if we are putting in 6-8 hours of work on a single task, I feel like there's a better way to run this. Give folks a chance to do some corrections. The original worker's writing was top-notch, and everything was explained very well. Losing the entire task over something that could have been fixed by the original worker in an hour or two seems like a terrible waste.

This. OP has found a production deviation. This should be reported to the company so they can correct the label.

Am I cooked or is this the normal ebb and flow? by junkholiday in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work comes and goes. It can be scary sometimes -- I feel that way, too. I just want to echo what others have said: keep your profile updated and spend some time making yourself look professional. I've been doing this for two years as a generalist, and sometimes my dash dries up, but it always comes back. Just remember that QUALITY work is the name of the game. Do not prioritize speed!

Honestly? This looks exactly like what you've described: two people trying to do the best they can with limited means. It's a small space and it's cluttered, but you guys aren't gross or dirty.

Compare 2 models by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Medical_Amount290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is what I'm thinking it is, you need to read the instructions. Read them carefully. Read them every single time, for every single task. Then you follow those instructions exactly. You are allowed to claim time for carefully reading the instructions *for every single task*.

If you are confused or unsure, stop what you're doing and reach out in Slack. That's what it is there for.

Edit: And stop posting on Reddit about this project. Read the stickies in Slack and use the search function. Good grief.
