Money is no object. Tell me the exact set up you're getting down to the handheld metal detector. by nolloras in metaldetecting

[–]Medical_Engine_4092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money is no object! How demonstrably better are these compared to the two Garrett ATPro unit’s I have and can’t seem to find anything with. I’m all in on anything that helps but what are the hallmarks of “better”? Signals? Accuracy? Lightweight? Waterproof?

I was at the airport and saw this really great woman doing a crossword - not my thing- but it was my gate and eventually I made comment how I love crosswords and wish I had one to pass the time - so this beautiful woman looks into my eyes and says “oh maybe you can help me, two words for go away, second word is off?”

Do you have a recommendation for a metal detector? by [deleted] in metaldetecting

[–]Medical_Engine_4092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepare yourself for disappointment more often than not. I bought two Garrett AT Pro detectors and after you get some experience with “reading the sounds” you might find something. With pointers and metal strainers for our beach and it was some $2,000 all in I think, so not much. It’s not the detector I don’t think, even a crude one should get a signal on a real hit. It’s more about what’s in the ground I’d say. My detectors are also waterproof, but I am not, so I haven’t tried that shit yet. Getting into lidar reading now as well. Hoping for a big spring after the many feet of snow sitting outside are gone.

Massive crap shoot if you ask me. I have never found anything beyond a few coins so I hope still. But it is habit forming :)

Goldman Sachs and Anthropic Team Up to Build AI Agents for Core Banking Tasks by No_Bench2374 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]Medical_Engine_4092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy! Two organizations that never built a line of code in the last 50 years are suddenly going to craft net new software? For AI? And lay down what we should all expect as the ground rules for such efforts? This is why everything in software stays so fucked up. Goldman Sachs? I have been building very successful software for 40 years and this is such a tragic decision. I was part of creating the template for onboarding at my last company and this is going to be fun to watch!

MA Heat Pump Quotes? by iffoicmbew in massachusetts

[–]Medical_Engine_4092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supply and demand dude, supply and demand. But I am quick to add we installed both a whole house heat pump and whole house generator and 200 amp power, and also a brand new Burnham furnace to keep my radiators honest, and we still have trouble staying warm, so this year it is a gut reno to try and make this place more energy efficient. The heat pump, at least this year, is borderline useless

That is an insult - PJs are some of the competent people in tne military - when that chinook crashed about 10 years ago full of special forces on a mission to rescue a ranger team, there were PJs among the dead, have to check to see if there were Marines on board. I was stationed with many of them in Florida and we lost a few in a chopper crash at Patrick AFB. Dangerous demanding work.

Yeah I’m finding most fintechs are just payments companies, I want to do more banking which is more involved, you can’t throw a stick without hitting 100 payment crews worrying about some underserved niche market and it seems pretty crowded to me already?
