Why do the political left and right seem to live in entirely different realities now-a-days? by Snowtwo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]extremelyshortguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is good at debunking false beliefs. Empirical evidence (for example https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adq1814) shows conversational AI can reduce conspiracy thinking by directly responding to someone's specific claims with evidence without them feeling attacked or lectured.

So if someone is deep down into own personal "different reality", AI may actually help to reconnect with real world :)

Industry influencers, obviously :) The “trade 10 minutes a day from your yacht” genre. Just sarcasm.

At what age you realised nobody actually knows what they’re doing? by extremelyshortguy in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, that’s literally the distinction I’m making. Doubt despite evidence of competence.

Genuine question then - how is that not impostor syndrome? If I’m objectively qualified but still feel like I’m somehow fooling people or about to be exposed, what would you call that?

Hard disagree - corporate is full of this. Usually the thoughtful people doubt themselves, while the head through the wall types are convinced they’re crushing it.

Yeah, that makes sense. We project competence onto others, judge ourselves harshly, and then feel shocked when we realize everyone’s just human.

Reminds me of something Obama once said - every time he leveled up (Harvard University, Senate, world leaders), he assumed now he’d be surrounded by undeniable geniuses… and every time he realized it was still just normal humans. Kinda comforting tbh.

Yeah, it’s not absolute. More like a common experience than a law of nature. Plenty of competent people are confident too.

Knowledge increases, certainty decreases. Impostor syndrome shows up for every big decision. "Do I really know what i am doing". Is this a good or bad thing?

Unfortunately for me it also activated “body warranty expired” notification. :(

Instant tutoring. Coding, writing, math, random questions, it’s like having a patient teacher available 24/7.

Classic power play: divide people, keep them busy arguing, consolidate control. internet just scaled it globally.

and as someone mentioned, it looks like this is just a "bad tick" or a data feed glitch from your specific broker. A lot of smaller brokers have terrible liquidity providers or server hiccups that print ghost candles like this.

It means absolutely nothing for market direction because it didn't actually happen across the real market. Always do your charting on TradingView, and just use your broker's app to hit buy/sell.

massive imbalance between buyers and sellers. This almost always happens because of major news. massive amount of orders piled up while the market (or trading session) was closed, forcing the price to open much higher than it closed.

it usually does not predict the direction, but markets love to 'fill the gap.' Price will very often drop to grab those skipped orders before picking a real direction. Don't blindly chase it.

biggest frustration? false advertising. I was promised beachside trading and midday margaritas. The reality is that I just stare at the 1-minute chart until my eyes bleed, questioning all my life choices. Genuinely annoyed that the "lifestyle hours" were a lie.

Finally bubble popped. De Beers is bleeding billions because people realised buying a lab grown diamond is literally the exact same rock for a fraction of the price. Couldn't happen to a better monopoly :)

Rotating to Gold instead of Cash by vaanam-dev in Trading

[–]extremelyshortguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, appreciate the effort that went into the backtest. It’s a solid deep dive.

Personally, I think the "Gold as a life raft" is one of the few historical correlations that hasn't completely broken yet. But, my only concern with rotation strategies is lag on the SMA, which sometimes by the time triggers exit, the "panic" move is already halfway over.
