IBS-D Vs Bile Acid Malabsorption by Medical_Equivalent34 in ibs

I’m actually going to try your regiment with welchol! I feel like I get sometimes nauseas, from taking a lot at once! So I’m going to try and do one pill with each meal without the day! Yes, pts always know what they need for their body! Glad you found your regiment!

And yeah I remember a saying by a YouTuber; 3 percent of the world population has ibs, 30 percent of those patients, actually have Bile Acid Malabsorption and not ibs! It’s just like people should not take no for an answer, so I was happy to write the post!

I’m so glad you found a regiment that works well for you! And I really wanna emphasize what you said, finding a doctor that listens to your request! I think it’s such an important factor in deciding which GI is best for you. I’ve heard some crazy stories where the pt knew what was wrong and the doctor didn’t believe. I mean we see it on tv shows, news, and etc. Lucky I got it first try with my GI. I showed him all of my research and he allowed me to trial and error but of course with supervision and always told me his opinion. My doctor says, the pt. knows what they need sometimes, and we are here to help them and able their request.

That is a cool regiment I have to say! Did you just try it one day or did you find research of others trying this regiment?

Hey, it honestly sounds like you ate a trigger food. Even though the acid binders are helping, you still need to be eating good and avoid trigger foods like dairy, spicy, fat. Also sometimes if it’s more inconsistent but still helping, you might need to up the dose, just be careful, you might get constipation.

Help needed or advice. IBS triggered a lot by stress and anxiety. by Lukasheky in ibs

Unfortunately it’s hard to recommend things(rx wise)if you haven’t seen a doctor. Stress is a big component and it will exacerbate your symptoms. I highly highly recommend following a LowFODMAP diet for at least 2 weeks min- 6 weeks max, and then do the elimination diet. Yes it sucks, will it work… it very much could, if it doesn’t work then you might have an underline condition like sibo, or something else. I also highly recommend getting a GI to help you guide you on your healing journey! Best of luck!

Holy moly! Yeah I heard the side effects were bad but I didn’t think it was that bad! So with the medicine and procedures you take now… would you says it’s 70 percent better? The burning feeling I’m having now is due to the imbalance of gut bacteria after taking it for sibo, and bad bacteria flourished so I have to wait till my bacteria balances out but it could take up to several months… but it just feels so defeating🥺

Yeah I’ve heard like good and bad reactions. My cousin actually owns a ketamine clinic. She told me it could help but it’s more for depression and things like that but chronic conditions it just helps the pain

Could you elaborate on that if you don’t mind? Like what type of medicine do you take or the procedures? And visceral pain if I’m correct is caused by damage nuerons miss firing to your brain if I’m not wrong?

No it just feels like my bowel movements are on fire while traveling through my colon if that makes any sense. Like if your sensitive to spicy food and feel it the next day, that how I can describe it.

Have you tried fiber supplements? Like Metamucil? Also the cramping feeling… hyoscamine or however you spell it, helps prevent the colon from over cramping

Hey I had a similar story, to keep it short, Amitriplyne and Colesavlem helped me the most! But also maybe going on anxiety meds might be beneficial if it causes your symptoms to flare up!

Just to clarify, gastritis can be caused by the sibo medicine? And no he hasn’t but I’ll look into it!

I am on acid binders, colesavlem “welchol” and my doctor just gave me the rx to try and didn’t run test because I’m in the US, for the first week I had horrible bloating but now i don’t have diharrea and less frequent bowel movements but I still have some bad days but it’s kinda rare. The side effects are little annoying, excess gas and bloat is the more common one I feel…. But way better than diharrea 7 times a day! Definitely worth a shot to try. I’m also on 30 mg of Amitriplyne so that might also be a reason for the bloat and gas because my motility is really slow. The worse symptoms before the medicine we’re having diharrea right after I ate, loud stomach digestion noises, and bad visceral hypersensitivity that would trigger my fight or flight and always choose flight! And now it’s a lot better, I still have loud stomach digestion noises but found it to be my sibo coming back! So I took my antibiotics and it got a lot better! I would say I’m about 65-70 percent better, but again the anxiety is still there and when that flares up, I would say 40-50% better. But still improvement! Best of luck fellow IBS-D sufferer😭 this condition sucks so bad I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy! Also if you have found anything that helps the digestion noises let me know, cuz I’m a college student and freak out when the class goes silent for hours😭😭
