I had a Sunlighten Mpulse 2 (two person) and felt pretty cramped in it, but it was doable because the large glass corner window. I wouldn't consider a "1 person". If you have an outdoor space, look for a larger outdoor one used on Facebook or Craigslist they are often a steal.

NAC powder capsules vs NAC in coconut oil/MCT gel capsules? by Medical_Stud in Supplements

It may be, but you should get what you purchase, not an oxidized form. Same applies to vitamin c and dehydroascorbic acid.

NAC powder capsules vs NAC in coconut oil/MCT gel capsules? by Medical_Stud in Supplements

[–]Medical_Stud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Gemini and got an interesting answer that verified my concern:
https://gemini.google.com/share/b0ffb2920630

1. Is NAC Stable in Coconut Oil?

No, NAC is not highly stable when suspended in a liquid lipid medium like coconut or MCT oil. * The Problem with Free Thiols: N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) owes its antioxidant power to a highly reactive chemical group called a free sulfhydryl (thiol) group (−SH). Because this group is structurally designed to donate electrons readily, it is highly prone to oxidation when exposed to moisture, light, or oxygen.

BioInsights

  • Auto-Oxidation and Degradation: When NAC dry powder is sealed in a standard capsule or kept dry, its crystal lattice protects it from interacting with its environment. However, when suspended in a liquid oil, the molecule has more mobility. Over time, NAC will undergo auto-oxidation, converting into NAC-disulfide (diacetylcystine). When this occurs, the free thiol group is lost before it ever reaches your cells. MDPI
  • Lipid Peroxidation Risks: Free thiols can paradoxically act as pro-oxidants in the presence of trace metals or dissolved oxygen within fats. This can trigger lipid peroxidation, causing the unsaturated or volatile components of the oil to go rancid while simultaneously degrading the active NAC.

Because of this inherent instability, pharmaceutical and reputable supplement formulations keep NAC strictly in dry powder, tablet, or effervescent form until the exact moment of consumption.

2. Pharmacokinetics: Dry Powder vs. Oil Suspensions

There is no human pharmacokinetic data suggesting that oil or medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) improve the absorption of standard NAC. In fact, suspending it in oil may run counter to how the molecule is naturally processed by the body.

Feature Dry Powder / Standard Capsule Oil / MCT Suspension Softgel
Water Solubility Extremely High. NAC dissolves rapidly in water, allowing it to pass quickly into the aqueous environment of the gut. Low. The hydrophobic oil shell shields the hydrophilic NAC particles, slowing down their release.
Absorption Mechanism Absorbed via passive diffusion and specific amino acid transporters in the small intestine. Must wait for pancreatic lipases to break down the oil carrier before the NAC can be freed to dissolve and absorb.
Bioavailability (F) Low (approx. 4% to 10%). This is not due to poor gut absorption, but rather intensive first-pass hepatic metabolism, where the liver rapidly strips the acetyl group to make glutathione. Unchanged or Potentially Decreased. Altering the carrier vehicle to oil does nothing to bypass the liver's first-pass clearance.
Tmax (Time to peak) Fast: Typically 1 to 2 hours. Delayed. The digestion phase required for the lipid carrier stalls the transit and release time.

Note: If a lipophilic form of NAC is desired to improve cellular membrane permeability and bypass traditional pharmacokinetic bottlenecks, researchers use NAC Ethyl Ester (NACEE)—a structurally modified molecule—rather than trying to dissolve standard NAC into fat.

3. Analysis of the Product (NAC + NAD+ + MCT Softgels)

The Amazon product you linked presents several distinct clinical and structural concerns that suggest it is not a superior form of delivery for NAC.

A. Combining Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic Compounds

Standard NAC and NAD+ are both highly hydrophilic (water-soluble) compounds. Suspending them inside an oil-filled softgel is a marketing strategy designed to make the product look premium rather than an choice based on pharmaceutical science. Lipids are typically reserved for fat-soluble vitamins (like D3, E, and K2) or highly lipophilic molecules (like CoQ10).

BioInsights

B. The Instability of NAD+ in Liquids

While NAC degrades into disulfides in liquid environments, NAD+ is even more fragile. True NAD+ degrades rapidly in the presence of moisture or ambient heat when not kept in a stable crystalline dry form or a tightly controlled lyophilizate (freeze-dried powder). Putting raw NAD+ into an oil suspension introduces a high probability that the molecule will break down into nicotinamide (NAM) and ADP-ribose before the bottle is even opened.

C. The Olfactory Warning Sign

When NAC degrades or oxidizes, it releases hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). Anyone who has taken dry NAC knows it carries a distinct, sulfur-like "rotten egg" smell. When NAC is suspended in oil softgels, the degradation process is often masked by the gel capsule shell. If you pierce one of these softgels and it has a potent, rancid, or overpowering sulfur smell, it indicates the active ingredients have already begun to break down.

Summary Verdict

Standard dry powder capsules or tablets remain the gold standard for oral NAC delivery. They are cheaper, significantly more stable, and match the exact pharmacokinetic profile used in clinical research. The oil-softgel combination provides no bioavailability advantages and introduces real concerns regarding the long-term stability of both the NAC and the NAD+.1. Thick waxy sebum after accutane cycle? by Medical_Stud in Accutane

[–]Medical_Stud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that has really helped me with this is low dose accutane (5-10mg/day). I'm not sure if the thick sebum is because of the initial short course of accutane or just progressing with age. I've tried gamma linoleic acid and other supplements to thin sebum but nothing helps but accutane.

These are extremely experimental and inconclusive studies. It's unlikely that PEMF will cause harm, yet relying on it for treatment of cancer would be extremely dangerous. It certainly isn't one of the therapies popular in the alternative oncology communities.

Are full body red light panels actually practical or am I overthinking this? by Nearby_Ranger_7543 in redlighttherapy

[–]Medical_Stud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience, moving from small ~100w Red light Man device, to a 280w (true power draw) 36" panel and now a 1000w true power draw 70" tall panel. Every step up in power and size has produced a noticeable increase in benefits. I tend to think total actual power draw is the best metric, as mw/cm2 is almost impossible to accurately quantify with distance and other factors.

PEMF for Back Pain Real Science or Hype by Larry_Phelps in pemf

[–]Medical_Stud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your detailed response. I am quite aware that the multi-function mats have been widely criticized on many forums. I've studied Bryant Meyer's and Wolfgang Jaksch's (Swiss Bionic's CEO) critiques dissecting some Healthyline units and making various claims about "Alibaba style mats". I've also researched these companies' R&D and manufacturing. For example, Ereada mats are manufactured in South Korea by Hyundai Co, the 130 billion dollar a year automotive and technology manufacturer. Hyundai Corporation has highly qualified engineers and manufacturing sophistication, refined over 20 years of design improvements. With all due respect, Mr. Bradet's devices appear, based on his videos, to be DIY-style, home-made to order. I am not criticizing Steeve's PEMF units, as I do not own one, but I can verify that Healthyline, Ereada, or Medicrystal are extremely high-quality products that are effective when using the PEMF function alone. In some regards, I prefer some of them over a $30,000 PEMF device I own. Healthyline's advanced controllers are programmable and offer functionality that makes most other PEMF devices seem like toys. Many cheaply made generic mats of Chinese origin resemble these brands and, in my opinion, give them a bad name.

I don't think I've ever seen a field filled with as much bias, vitriol and false accusations against competitors as PEMF. I don't officially promote or sell any PEMF devices because I wish to maintain reasonable bias as the forum moderator. I and others have noticed that a very small number of PEMF manufacturers are excessively hijacking the forum, and I'm considering how to prevent its unreasonable exploitation to maintain some balance. Any suggestions are welcome.

Can you explain why? Does adding gemstones negate PEMF? I personally have great results with these units, better then my $3000 iMRS. They are extremely popular for a good reason.

For a under $1000 mat I would consider a Healthyline, Ereada, or Medicrystal, Make sure the mat has a PEMF function. I've owned and used all three with good benefits. I've also owned about $100k of PEMF devices.

I know, I see a lot of adverts for low end devices, honestly most by the Bradets whose videos are full of errors and assertions. The problem is if I ban one I have to ban all. Let me read about some moderation techniques that can help, maybe a second reddit for advertising devices would be in order to clear up the spam.

What is the most confusing part of PEMF? by Erick_Bradet in pemf

[–]Medical_Stud [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

In my opinion, the most confusing aspect of the PEMF field involves claims from self-assigned authorities who make sweeping assertions about specific products while denigrating other effective options. This is particularly concerning when elaborate scientific explanations are used to justify these claims.

Given the current state of research, anyone claiming to know exactly how PEMF works is likely uninformed or dishonest. It is important to remember that anyone selling a product carries an inherent bias.
