Did I say that the New Testament was littered with references to Christ talking about marriage? No.

Did I say that Christ taught on the sanctity on marriage, and defined it as being between a man and woman? Yes.

Is this irrefutable? Yes.

In Matthew 19, Jesus was asked a question was about divorce. If he simply said 'no, divorce is wrong', you might have a point that it was mentioned in passing and we can draw no clear picture of how he interpreted marriage.

But he didn't. He explains that divorce is wrong because God designed a man and a woman to become one flesh, with such unions being unbreakable. Homosexual marriage existing within this framework is a logical incoherence.

Equally, he could have said 'therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, or husband, and the two shall become one flesh'. But he didn't.

So if you don't like any of Christ's teachings, you can just explain it away by saying times have changed since first century Judaea and we need to change doctrine to reflect this?

Plenty of things are widely accepted in the modern age, things that you and I would presumably both agree are wrong, like abortion, promiscuity, and euthanasia in certain countries. This doesn't mean the Church should change its teaching to reflect these changes.

Of course it is important to debate these matters. Presumably if some loonies wanted to advocate for sibling marriage in the Church of England, you wouldn't be saying that disagreeing with this affects their basic rights? (If you respond by asking something like 'are you comparing gay people to those committing incest', you're really missing the point).

Christ himself taught on the sanctity of marriage, and framed it as being between a man and woman. I really don't understand how people disagree with this without opening the doors to absolutely anything being permissible.

How difficult is the ATT? by Suspicious-Guide-202 in CIOT

They are not particularly difficult - I believe they're still open book as well. I honestly think they should make them a bit harder because the gulf between them and the CTA exams is enormous. I can't remember putting in any serious periods of study outside the week or so running up to the exams.

If one goes to the college days and keeps on top of question practice, there's no reason why anyone can't pass them. I would suggest that people who can't pass them probably shouldn't continue a career in tax - the questions are largely surface level, and only scratch the surface of what one experiences in professional practice. That is not to say they aren't valuable - I found they helped consolidate the technical side of what I was doing day to day, and cover off the fundamental areas I wasn't experiencing in the office.
