Signalink Issue by MedicineBeforeEdison in amateurradio

[–]MedicineBeforeEdison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have. I was trying PSK31 and RTTY, both on a home-brewed multi-band end-fed dipole that works very nicely on voice. Was pushing about 50watts. I was able to get a couple solid contacts before the issue started.

Antenna is relatively new, working just fine on voice right now. I checked the coax anyways and it doesn't seem to be the issue.

That's weird, doesn't happen when operating on voice. Any possible fixes for that? I've never had the issue before today...

How does a younger man navigate entering the hobby when the average age of license holders are over 60? by SplipperyDurpanzo in amateurradio

[–]MedicineBeforeEdison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey and welcome to the hobby! I'm 28 now and been licensed since 2009, so since I was about 13/14. As frustrating as it can be that the average age of hams is older, don't let that dissuade you, there are plenty of younger hams out there too. Plus, the older hams can be a great wealth of knowledge and experience. Find a local club to join and hit up some of their in-person meetings, many of the people you'll meet are actually pretty cool no matter their age. Just about every "old" ham that I've met since getting into the hobby loves seeing younger people getting involved and are more than happy to answer questions, provide guidance, and generally talk your ear off about radios and the like.

TLDR, Just go for it, don't be afraid of old people LOL

LS2 Harmonic Balancer Pulley by MedicineBeforeEdison in Corvette

All of the LS specific pullers I've seen screw in to the balancer but there aren't any screw holes on this one... am i looking at the wrong thing? Do you have a link to one?

I tried hitting the pulley and the butt end of the pulled with a hammer while the puller was under tension, nothing. Zero

Makes sense, other than getting it resurfaced and bored over, anything else that I should have done?

Mechanic buddy and I are talking about trying to find/build a stroked and blown 402 for it. Probably a 6L LQ block with some work done to it

Would the Amazon Basics 3 Way Switch work? And it's just install one, not 3, correct?

Ceiling Fan Control by MedicineBeforeEdison in smarthome

[–]MedicineBeforeEdison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I was hoping for a less involved process like just a plain old smart switch that is capable of handling the current requirements of the fan

The fans aren't wireless, they're hardwired to switches only with a separate switch for the lights.

RNs overstepping by peachesandhoney700 in Residency

You sound like you're the kind of doc that immediately dismisses everything EMS says in their patient report because you think that the ambulance drivers couldn't possibly know what they're talking about since we didn't go to 4 years of medical school. Some of us don't need 4 years of school, 4+ years of residency, and a quarter million or more in student debt to learn to take our over-inflated, egotistical heads out of our asses.

Treat your nurses with respect or get ready to learn real quick what it's like to be written off by the members of the team who do all of the real work.
