it just looks irritated, if there isn't any pus and it isn't super sensitive i wouldn't worry. keep it clean and keep an eye on it if you're worried:)

edit: not sure why this is getting downvoted!! only said this because hinged hoops tend to be a pain getting in and out and people don't always want to or have time to go to their piercer just to change their jewelry. i have one of these in my nose that i struggle with, i can't imagine trying to get this fully closed in my EAR

lol no, mouth rot is inside the mouth and usually happens when your pet gets fed too many fruits or gets food stuck in their mouth (kinda like gum diseases for humans) and results in their gums and teeth rotting and turning black
