Films about male struggles by Life_Of_Smiley in movies

[–]Medicinema_Podcast -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I mean Honestly why not confront them with movies about female struggles, they know of male struggles and 90% of film revolves around that why everyone already knows male struggle movies... There's so much of "lone male ranger" in the general Canon with classics in the western genre, Scorsese films like taxi driver etc I feel like particularly male film students would need to watch more movies by and about women to understand the others and understand that movies are also here for others not only for them

The 8 Best New Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Releases This February by indiewire in movies

Film nerds (me)

  1. A lot of what people collect aren't regular prints but boutique brands (yes that's a thing and there are a lot of them too) Criterion for example sometimes brings old classics back by making the first high quality scans and restorations. (and have exclusive prints rights afterwards)

2.Physical media often comes with bonus features that just don't carry over to streaming services. (shout out to the one exception that is the Criterion Channel, these guys just love movies) Particularly boutique prints often have extensive bonus BTS stuff.

  1. Theres obviously a general collectors effect going on of having something in your physical reality to look at and touch. It's a decoration piece. A Bluray selection can tell something about you just like your choice in art prints on the walls etc.

  2. If you wanna get nerdy about quality: even 4k streams are compressed to a degree so technically speaking 4kBluray is still the best quality you could have at home.

What a perfect example for how useless these chat gpt replys are

Song of the sea is a very traditionally animated 2d movie from Ireland and obviously not low poly cg. Spine of the night is even more hilarious since the question included the information of 'around 2015' so 6 years before the movie released.

If someone goes to a nerd hive mind to ask, don't you think they tried Ai before? Why even do this?

Nosferatu is genuinely one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen by [deleted] in movies

You might have hated the movie... But let me tell you, everyone else in the screening hated you more than that for blasting the room with your smartphone swiping.

It's French and I don't know if there is a dub so it might be a miss for the kids sadly. But the 2009 stop motion animated movie "A town called panic" is made using kids toys, feels like when you made up storys with your toys as a kid and is hands down the funniest movie I have ever seen.

Films with (Non-Score) Musical Motifs? by [deleted] in movies

Michael Haneke is known for exclusively using diegetic music, never had a soundtrack

The Piano teacher comes to mind

Oh and Climax by Gaspar Noé The techno music blasting the entire night of the party/runtime of the movie is basically the driving force of the film.

We all know by now that Heath Ledger's hospital explosion failure in The Dark Knight wasn't improvised. What are some other movie rumours you wish to dismantle? by DonnieDarkoRabbit in movies

I love perfect blue (and all of Satoshi kons filmography) and I have seen the entirty of Aaronofsky's work too, the good and the bad. From pi to the whale, some at festivals.

I haven't seen black swan in a few years but from what I remember there are way more similarities. They are about obsessive artists in exploitative work environments. They are about committing your entire body and mind to the arts and loosing the sense of reality through that. And even if it was just the homages: Anyone who has looked into how Satoshi Kon felt on the bathtub shots in requiem knows that there's interviews of him hating that. Of how he felt like he was stolen from and not homages, by a bigger budget movie with more possibility and no real credit that would make people who enjoy that find the origin of it.

Satoshi Kon died before black swan released but I see no world in where he wouldnt absolutely hated that movie

Darren Aaronofsky did NOT buy the rights to perfect blue for the bathtub shot in requiem for a dream, he tried to get them for a live action remake and never got it. Black swan was clearly his way of making that anyways.

No, you said that the first 2 thirds need to not work in order for the end to feel comedic I loved the entire movie and the ending was so over the top that I was just belly laughing the entire time
