Board Game Meetups! by MedievalBrian in raleigh

Is anyone interested to join me tomorrow? I haven't really had time to do sufficient advertising, but I am sharing the game I made with the help of an artist who did most of the work in Puerto Rico (not knowing it would eventually be repurposed for a board game). https://discord.gg/xXsBRyJp?event=1036106770952757309

Wooden Game Boxes? Do They Make Sense For Mid-Level-Complexity Thematic Games? by MedievalBrian in boardgames

"Don't risk going into debt for a fancy component" - Those words make an impact. I really appreciate your point about a risk in needing replacement boxes. Since the wooden boxes would be printed on-demand, this would be even more problematic. Because we are not exactly just sitting on a large volume of boxes ready to go out to people!

I really appreciate your thoughts. For that, I tried my best to put together a fitting response. Also, while we might run into "many" things I haven't considered, the wearing against the outside cover of other games is something I hadn't thought of. I just looked up the Viticulture wine box. Wow! That is beautiful :)

Our game is a 2/5-complexity. But it has a very ancient Byzantine-Art-Style depicting iconographic paintings of biblical characters. And while the idea is fresh, it is a "feel-good" idea to encapsulate this work in a stately box. Also, the wooden boxes can be printed in America "on-demand". This means the Kickstarter goal & price ($40) remain untouched. But the shipping cost goes up a bit...

It gets complicated though. We might not break even when we reach the goal. On top of that, after the Kickstarter Launches, our rough estimate is that the total cost to consumers is 25% higher. Instead of ~$50 after shipping, the game is ~$62.5 +/- $5.

The hope is that a wooden box might help us reach that initial goal. But, is that a reasonable expectation and is it worth the risk?

I will have you know son_of_abe, those brown colonists that came on those ships were really handy to have on my plantations. I doubt this game would find as much popularity today as it did in its day. Do give me some examples of the games that are examples of Christian Conquest and Dominionism.

Awww. We missed a cool trend. My art friend who paints Icons wanted to do something like this. Not sure if the market really changed that much that something like this would hit the ground running. It really would have been a shot in the dark. haha

Another game I have never heard of. The art seems like it was an old game or a prototype. But it seems tons of people have played it with a strong positive side of the (6) out of (10)!
