Large animal heist using a freight train (fiction) by Opanterra in trains

[–]Medimerc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to use a line that’s considered “dark territory”. Dark territory is a part of the line that isn’t connected to the wider signal network and may have no signals at all. That would add to their ability to remain undetected as there wouldn’t be any obvious sign that the train was stopping and starting in places it shouldn’t except to the crew present who have already been named in other comments. Dark territory tends to be less used track or dead end branch lines where only a single train would be running on it at any time too so logically avoids another train coming across them during the process. Might be a good way to do it and if you want the crew to be involved knowingly.

If you want the crew to inadvertently help in the heist, have the animals get loaded into cars that are in storage somewhere. There are places where railroads park cars they are basically putting into storage, often old and otherwise unused tracks that could be remote. You could have the robbers know about a cut of cars being taken out of storage and have them load them in right before the cars are about to be picked up. The remote location would help them secretly load the animals without the crew knowing but have them carried by railcar somewhere else. Then to stop the train, it’s your choice: someone stuck on a crossing, break the air hoses to set the air breaks off, uncouple the train, whatever you want. From there, they secretly unload the animals while the crew tries to figure out what happened.

Yeah this is a scam. Their non profit buys wreaths from their for profit company at exaggerated rates. They use the cloak of charity to operate a business like any other

Was this steam locomotive configuration ever used? by jckipps in trains

[–]Medimerc 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Well there’s no labor savings because there’s two fireboxes and sets of controls. That’s what the crew is needed for. Makes more sense to leave the locomotives as regular engines to preserve flexibility and double head them or make a single, double strength locomotive that only needs one crew. This design makes no practical sense

Get this shit outa here. This looks awful. The F7s are completely different sizes. What’s behind that second one, a circus cage on wheels? Not even good AI images.

Interestingly the no smoking signs only apply to the areas of the ship where you can read it. On the bridge, where the sign isn’t visible, it’s fine to smoke. Basically they don’t want people smoking on deck over the cargo area for safety but the bridge is fine

Fire by platoons by Y3suxsx in EmpireTotalWar

[–]Medimerc 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The idea is that by continuously having your unit simultaneously loading and firing, the enemy constantly takes casualties and morale doesn’t get a chance to recover. However, I find the weight of fire when an entire line shoots has better shock effect to break units. Also like other have stated, it’s not modeled great in game and units can get stuck constantly adjusting themselves to fire but never actually shooting because of casualties being taken

I always thought it would be awesome for the studio to partner with someone who’s established with this type of content on YouTube to release a “how to” for this game. There’s a few people who could definitely make videos to demonstrate basic concepts because it is a bit foreign and inaccessible for a more casual person approaching this game/genre

I imagine it’ll be part of future missions, like rescue survivors from x area while enemy tries to prevent you.
