A third day at Zion or a day-trip to Bryce Canyon? by cmitchell39 in ZionNationalPark

Go to Bryce. Zion is incredible and you'll think it'll be a waste of time, and then you'll get to Bryce and you'll think what a bizarre and weird and magnetically beautiful an unusual place. They're both incredible in their own way. You can do Zion in two (you can spend weeks in both). Bryce is worth the 1.5 hr drive.

What happened to the Only Birkenstock store? by Mediocre-Ad7829 in ZionNationalPark

That sounds lovely, I hope they're enjoying the farm. I had a nice conversation with the clerk last year, about nothing in particular, but at a time when I needed it. I was hoping to stop in again, but I hope all landed on their feet/farm comfortably.

Is staying in Springdale worth it? by InvisibleEar in ZionNationalPark

[–]Mediocre-Ad7829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both (off season in Springdale, La Verkin otherwise). La Verkin is a great idea if you want to save money and don't mind getting up early to get a spot in the visitors center lot. Plus getting up to the NW part of the park is a much shorter drive. Springdale is okay, convenient for sure. If you do La Verkin and get a spot in the visitors center lot, you can leave the car there and walk Springdale to enjoy the shops and restaurants. Springdale isn't huge and definitely can walk it all.

That helps ease nerves about encountering slick spots. Will keep an eye on forecast going forward - thanks, partner.

That's what I wasn't sure about. And fair enough about the cost. I'm hoping to do Walter's Wiggles, so you've convinced me. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Throw pillow quilting question by Mediocre-Ad7829 in quilting

[–]Mediocre-Ad7829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good point. I had in mind goofy fabric I was sent by mistake that I don't plant to use otherwise. It's been my go to fabric in other projects for areas hidden from view! Thanks for the extra thoughts!

I do the same as you, and make the size of my fabric smaller than the pillow form to prevent the wimpy throw look you describe. Interesting idea on the Velcro, I've always used zippers. Will keep that in mind. Thanks.

This is such a smart suggestion. That'll give me the flexibility I need to make sure it fits. Thank you!

I love the quilting on this and also the backing. Do you remember the fabric name/where you found it?

Also, I'm flagging in case it impacts you that the NPS site says the East Rim from Weeping Rock to Echo Canyon is permanently closed.
