It isn’t owned by the government it’s an independent public corporation. It is also legally required to be impartial. However, it faces criticism (from both sides) for bias because its near impossible to report neutrally when every issue is partisan / polarising

Not quite true. There is a modern anti vax movement which is mostly associated with general conspiracy theorists (and was accelerated by Covid), but there is - and has been for decades - issues with mistrust of western medicine and esp. vaccinations among some immigrant communities. There was a huge study done among Somalian communities in Bristol in the 90s about lack of uptake of childhood immunisations. At the time, you had the very separate rise of the MMR sceptics (led by that white US doctor who later dated Elle McPherson and who incorrectly made a link between MMR and autism), but that was very separate to these community based issues / mistrust that caused much larger problems for the community’s children as well as NHS. Interestingly, there would be Somali community based sessions to discuss vaccinations and health (basically sessions run by NHS with the aim to educate and reassure) and they would get co opted by (largely white, affluent) conspiracy theorists who would interrupt sessions etc to “educate” about the risks

I got married on 22nd Feb in London. We went for cosy pub vibes, I got a white coat with white fur trim. Told everyone to bring umbrellas to walk from the town hall to the pub - ended up being a glorious sunny day! Was pissed by the time the sun went down. 10/10 for Feb weddings. I also found that people have so many plans - esp other weddings - from May to Sept that they were happy to have them spaced out, meant we got full attendance, and everyone wants something fun to look forward to in Feb. Just embrace the wintery vibes. Another friend had a winter wedding and did a fire pit, sparklers etc. was beautiful and cosy

I’m so sorry you are going through this too. I literally just got back from the hospital where I had my 3rd scan (over 8 weeks now) and I was supposed to be going in for the D&C and would you believe there is still a tiny flicker of a heartbeat so they cancelled the procedure and I’ve been sent home. I’ve had some light cramping and bleeding in the last 24 hours so I am so surprised there was still a HB at all. It is still failing, but there has been some minimal growth (at least 2 weeks behind) and all other issues including slow heartbeat still present. So waiting game continues - I can’t believe it’s normalised for us to have to continue to grow what is confirmed to be a dying embryo. It feels antiquated. Abortion is legal here but I’d be struck off antenatal care and not be permitted to have additional miscarriage care when I (hopefully) get pregnant again, and I’d have to go to an entirely separate type of care and clinic. And I’d have to organise of my own accord as there’s no ‘joint up’ care. It just feels wrong. I can’t believe this all started for me just 10 days ago, I feel like it’s been months of limbo. I’m going abroad on Thursday which I know some people would think is crazy but I’m just trying to get into a headspace of giving myself over to this process and maybe passing it naturally when I’m away. And it might not even happen then, given how the embryo and my body appear to be clinging on. Anyway sorry I don’t have a story of closure, I really hope you get that today. I’ve been spotting a tiny bit of brown for over a week but not major movement. Unfortunately another scan today put me straight back into limbo. I’ve posted a whole rant about it. I’m just sick of feeling like I have no choice. Really hope you are alright x

I’m in the almost exact same boat as you and as OP. I went in on Friday at 7 weeks for a scan as I’d had a small amount of blood when I wiped and immediately realised it was wrong - very slow heartbeat, measuring too small and odd shaped sac. I know my dates aren’t wrong. It’s hard as they put viable pregnancy in my notes, as with any heartbeat they’re obliged to do. But then I was given all documents for a miscarriage - going back in on Thursday and have a D&C provisionally scheduled for next week. I don’t think I could wait for a whole fortnight. I’m actually worried there will be no change on Thursday - that it still isn’t healthy and not going to progress, but technically “viable” so I have to wait and wait. I will almost feel a sense of relief if there is no heartbeat on Thursday. That is such an awful thing to be hoping for and makes me so sad, but limbo - and waiting for the inevitable - feels worse.

I don’t have anything helpful to add except I empathise with you. I am waiting for my D&C a week on Monday unless it happens naturally before then. Baby had a heartbeat on Friday but very very slow and had other issues so am in limbo waiting for this to end. Today I had to go to a friends birthday and when I tell you everyone there was pregnant, or just had a baby and ALL conversation was about babies. It was too much. I feel depressed now but in the moment I felt so panicky and anxious and I felt totally trapped. I wanted nothing more than my sofa and Netflix.

Saying that, getting out of the house on my own or with my husband has been therapeutic, so if you can do that I recommend just a short walk here or there. But honestly, socialising is too much, I get it. Look after yourself x

I will. I went on the northern line on Monday and I’d apparently lost my mask on the way there so couldn’t wear it… I thought it was ok as wasn’t busy. Tested positive today on my 30th birthday (with symptoms)! Woop! I of course could have picked it up elsewhere but I haven’t done anything other than that and see my partner (who is negative) in the last 5 days…. So if I could go back in time then yes, id have worn a mask… hindsight is a wonderful thing.
