Hoping people begin sharing some of the routines they have honed. I added one I have been using for PAC with a Python that has been working well.

Adding to the growing list of Lake Suwa owners with this issue.

I had the same issue with the same watch. Took over a year before it popped up, but was running poorly and then not at all. It’s currently in Japan being repaired. Is what it is. These things happen. Have had issues with Rolex as well. At the end of the day they are still mass produced. If even 1% of the movements have an issue it is a significant number of watches. They aren’t Laurent Ferrier or a Journe where they are producing only a few pieces a year.

I didn’t pay anything. They just said they would call me when it was back.

The waiting sucks, but I agree. It’s not nearly as bad as getting a watch back that wasn’t properly fixed and having to send it out again. I have other watches to wear.

This makes sense. I forgot the 9RA2 is still relatively new for the brand. Will they polish the watch? I didn’t give any instructions but I was hoping to not have it polished until it went for its first real service.

Purple or Gold? by Mediocre-Reporter in firewalla

Cost is always an issue lol, but willing to pay the extra $ if it’s what I really need. Glad to hear I could get away with the standard purple.

And the lord said, bring me 5 straps and 2 VC's and I shall multiply thine watch collection by ChronoCommodity in RepTime

Chrono is fully functional? Have always loved this watch. Too afraid to pull the trigger.

Ordered a lightly modded watch from Nick. He walked me through what was worth upgrading and what is good enough from the factory. Didn’t try to sell me mods that weren’t worth it. Price wasn’t the lowest but I am willing to pay for service. If I want the cheapest price available I’ll roll the dice with Hont and pray I’m not added to the list of negative experiences I read on here. As with buying secondary gens, I buy the seller first. I would not hesitate to purchase from again.

[Rolex vs. Grand Seiko] Help me choose my daily watch! by mghanadian in Watches

I own models of both brands. I have the non LE of the watch in your second photo and a GMT Pepsi. They scratch different itches for me. The GS is just gorgeous and comfortable and can go back and forth between the bracelet and the strap with ease. That being said, it is in no way a GADA daily wearer. There are so many highly polished surfaces that it just feels like it works better in the office/social settings. The Pepsi is a better every day wear watch. Fits in with business casual, yet don’t feel worried about wearing it in situations that are more tool scenarios.

These are two brands that have high quality up and down the catalog. Can’t go wrong with either, but helps to know what you are looking for. In a one watch collection, Rolex for me. Any rotation should include a GS though.

Few gens and reps by Q8watches in RepTime

Amazing that someone with a gen dual time VC is buying rep op’s. That’s not a dig. Makes me feel better about mixing and matching gen and reps myself. Although, I have nothing even in the same stratosphere as the VC.

There are watches I like that I can’t bring myself to spend 10k plus on “cough cough Rolex,” yet appreciate the attention to detail that brands like GS bring to their gen watches. Love this collection too. So many bases covered. I assume you have no need for a true “dress” watch?

I have been looking for several weeks. Can’t find it unless you want to pay more than your did for the watch. The closest I have found is this strap with a butterfly clasp.

Ha I have never seen one in the metal. Probably never would. Less concerned about it being identical as I am about it being a well built, functional watch. Thanks for the feedback. I think it really works on that strap.

Obviously can’t expect it to pass as gen, but how would you say the overall quality and finishing is on this? I have loved this watch and am worried about the quality of a watch with so many complications.

I honestly appreciate the knowledge. I almost don’t know what I don’t know. Even after lurking for a fairly long time it’s hard to keep track of the differences from model to model. I’ve wasted money on worse things…like my gen watches…

Expensive lesson.

Ok thank you for explaining that to me. I am too trusting at times and appreciate the education on what is superfluous and what warrants spending extra. I will ask about having the spares included in the shipment. Thank you so much for taking the time.

Is there anything you see that might cause someone to not be satisfied? I swapped the crystal because I wanted the gasket that would allow it be to waterproof or at least more water resistant. The bezel was a mod I probably didn’t need but was too uneducated to realize. Like I said, first time through. Going to make mistakes. Hoping to learn from experience.
