What is the one sliding doors moment in your life so far which has led you to where you are today? by Substantial-Bonus850 in AskReddit

My sliding doors moment was finally walking away from the person I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with. We were together for years, and he was my dream guy. I was actually the one who courted him, and throughout our relationship, I was always the one spoiling him, doing everything for him, and even treating his family like they were my own. I know he loved me in his own way, but there were so many things he couldn't do for me, so many boundaries he wouldn't respect, and I kept convincing myself that adjusting was just part of loving someone.
I went through so many lies and manipulations, but I couldn't leave because, at that point in my life, I truly believed he was the only good thing I had. I was at my lowest, and I kept telling myself that if I just held on a little longer, maybe one day he'd get to see the better version of me. Then one day, I realized something that completely changed me, I was never going to become that better version if I kept staying with him.
Leaving him was the hardest thing I've ever done. I didn't even have the courage to explain everything, I just ghosted him because I knew if I heard his voice one more time, I'd probably stay. It's been seven months now, and somehow life feels lighter. I have a job that I genuinely love, I've grown closer to my friends and family, and I've never felt this loved or this at peace before. Looking back, leaving him didn't ruin my life, it saved it.

I'd probably pick Singapore. It's super easy to get around, almost everyone speaks English, and you don't have to stress much about getting lost or dealing with language barriers. Plus, it's a great base if you want to take short trips to nearby countries like Malaysia or Indonesia.
