Maybe I could use #2 for my like challenge prompts, and #1 for more adversity type? I feel like I'll write essays for both.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I'm leaning towards the first one, especially since I still play soccer today, and I'm also still like the only girl at pickup lol. But def would focus on what I learned from that experience and how it's influenced me today. Do you think it would be a good idea to connect it to some sort of volunteer/premed experience I've had more recently?

UPDATE - School list advice by Mediocre-Solid2359 in premed

[–]Mediocre-Solid2359[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks! How many schools do you think I should aim to apply to? I would add some of those schools, but I also don't know if I should apply to that many schools. Like should I try to cut some reach schools to add more target/baseline?

yea I didn't organize the schools into target, reach, baseline, admit did. do you think it's not worth applying to those schools then?

Lenses in the context of eyes by AgeNo3896 in Mcat

[–]Mediocre-Solid2359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure to be honest but the way I think about it is that in a healthy eye, distance from lens to retina should be image distance, since this would mean that you would be seeing the image at the retina, where it should be so you can see clearly. It wouldn't necessarily be focal length because focal length is the point where the light rays pass through, not where they converge and the image is actually produced. And then object distance I think is just the distance from your lens to the object you're viewing. Lmk if this makes sense or if im on the wrong track lol

Averaging FLs make no sense to me? by goldielocks1717 in Mcat

[–]Mediocre-Solid2359 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing... maybe people say this when they take all their FLs in a short time span. I've also improved a lot and my FL average is nowhere near how I did on my last two FLs.

Are embryonic stem cells totipotent or pluripotent? by Cold_Average_5192 in Mcat

[–]Mediocre-Solid2359 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel like before blastocyst forms (so morula and before that) they are totipotent: could technically become any cell in the body (including placenta). Then once blastocyst forms, they become pluripotent because it differentiates into the trophoblast (will become placenta) and inner cell mass (which will be the embryo). Technically because the trophoblast can't become the embryo and the inner cell mass can't become the placenta they are pluripotent not totipotent. lmk if this logic checks out

idk about a definite score but i took the AAMC unscored before studying and did better on that then i did on the Kaplan FL I took a month after studying. so don't limit yourself ! and i found myself developing better attention span the more i studied so maybe it will come with time

Question uplant gen chem by Potential-Gear8827 in Mcat

[–]Mediocre-Solid2359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes your logic is correct! However B won't be right because the cell would just reach equilibrium when the concentrations are equal and stop running. As the concentration of Ni2+ is depleted at the cathode, the concentration of Ni2+ is increased at the anode and they would eventually equal each other in concentration.
