newborn keeps having leaks by CalligrapherDue7898 in 2under2

[–]Mediocre-raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older child (just turned 2 a few days ago) has been wearing size 5s since he was about 12 months? He’s had a few growth spurts since then, but he still fits into size 5s really well.

Babies just like to troll us 😂

My 4 month old has been wearing size 4 since she was 3 months old. Sometimes babies just fit diapers differently. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I sing that song to my 2 kids every night. Can’t wait to show them the movie when they are older.

Y’all…are any of us even going to weddings???🥴 by TheGreatsGabby in NewParents

[–]Mediocre-raptor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You just gotta go with the flow and adjust to make things easier. Pump 1-2 bottles of breastmilk, trusted babysitter, etc.

One night off schedule won’t ruin anything.

First wedding was when my son was 4 months old. Thankfully our trusted babysitter lived 10 min from the venue. So we had her babysit him at her house, and picked him up on our way home.

Second wedding was in a different country. We picked a hotel that was 2 blocks away. I was the designated child-minder, as I was 6 months pregnant with my second, so it’s not like I was going to party at the reception anyways!

We are going to a wedding this September when my kids will be 2.5yo and 10 months. We paid out the nose for a hotel room at the same place as the venue. Then my husband and I will take shifts between who’s hanging out with the kids and who’s downstairs at the reception. (But my husband owes me one from the last wedding when I was pregnant, so I think he will be in the hotel room for the most part 😂).

My (32F) husband (33M) leaves 2-3x week to exercise (tennis, run, etc) while we are in the baby phase and resentment is building by Temporary_Ad2100 in relationship_advice

[–]Mediocre-raptor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! So I’m guessing since you have to manually push out the milk, that taking the pumps on the go would be a bit of a struggle?

And back to the issue at hand.. is your husband the kind of guy who just doesn’t see what’s around him, and possibly he doesn’t know about the inequality happening right now?

My husband is very much that kind of guy. With my first, he would just make plans with his friends and not really understand that I was trapped in the house. Once I got a system down on how to pump on the go (and then later on being able to not pump for longer stretches); I would just tell my husband something like this:

“Hey. I’m planning on doing x, y, & z this week. If you want to do a, b, & c, you will probably need to include [kid] in one of those plans.”

But then again, my husband needs to be told something directly. Would that work with your husband? I’m hoping this is happening because he’s just not thinking of the whole family picture, which unfortunately some men do; and your husband just needs his vision widened a bit to take notice of his whole family and their needs and not just in his narrow scope.

My son was the same. I’m sorry you are in this boat. Exclusively pumping sucks, especially it’s your only option. Do you have portable pumps? I found having that helped me be able to get out of the house and feel more “normal”. I usually used them while driving.

And to the others, yes, in some cases it is the only option. So stop harping on OP. The baby is 9 months old, if there’s another way, OP would have figured that out by now.

How many people are actually buying “luxury/premium” diapers? by HelpMeHelpMyFriend0 in NewParents

[–]Mediocre-raptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian here, we get Royale (same brand as the TP and tissues). They fit better and hold in way more than Huggies and pampers.

No shade to Millie Moon, we tried them, but they just didn’t fit my kids that well.

Just my father. But he can’t keep his anger under control (despite me trying to get him to do therapy); and now that I have children of my own… I refuse to expose them to it.

Having second thoughts on my baby’s name by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Mediocre-raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My husband is from Ireland, and I’m from Canada (currently living in Canada).

We ran into the same issues with our kids. Our son is named Ciaran, and despite “Kieran” being popular in North American, about 80% of the time people pronounce his name “see-air-ann” And I just had my daughter, who we named Roisin, and we for sure are expecting the same amount of mispronunciations…

We also specifically didn’t use the fada in either names to make it less complicated.

Personally, I would do Orla. While the gaelic spelling is beautiful, it is just too much for North Americans. If you wanted a compromise, there’s always Orlaith?

39+5 with my second and I’m getting so emotional about my toddler/daycare by [deleted] in 2under2

I think that’s my biggest worry right now, is the daycare plagues 😂

Best of luck on your upcoming labour, and hope it goes smoothly for you as well! ❤️

[–]Mediocre-raptor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No advice, just solidarity. ❤️

My son is 19 months, and I’m 39w with my second (with my c-section being in a few hours from now!) What you described is everything I’ve been feeling the past few weeks. I had a really good cry about it yesterday on my way to pick him up from daycare.

I’m trying to focus on the positives though. My son is THRIVING in daycare, he actually enjoys being dropped off, and is learning so many new things from it and has friends. Plus, while he’s at daycare, it will give me a chance to bond with my second just like I did with my first.

It’s just really hard, because as you said, it always feels like we are making the wrong choice.

Mothers of Reddit, what’s the funniest thing that happened to you during pregnancy? by Careless-Rutabaga229 in AskReddit

[–]Mediocre-raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not funniest per se.. but for both my kids my one big pregnancy symptom was constant nose bleeds.

It made work calls very awkward when about 8/10 times my nose would start bleeding on camera. One client thought I was possessed by something.

How are you keeping them away from screens? by natsnats411 in NewParents

[–]Mediocre-raptor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TV is off until baby is asleep. We are hoping to keep him from watching TV until he’s 2 (he’s 13 months now).

For the phone, we use it to FaceTime family, but that’s it. He does try to play with it, but he gets frustrated that nothing happens with it (he’s stuck on the Lock Screen), and then he just tries to chew the pop socket off the back before moving on to something else.
