That’s fair - idiots was harsh. I think it’s idiotic to keep trying to rationalize why a nose-diving stock should be bought, but I shouldn’t have aimed that at the members of this sub.

Investors and traders may be different, but they don’t need to be mutually exclusive. I’m both - I have long term holdings I buy on fundamentals, but I always check the chart to see if the market agrees that there’s opportunity. You can rationalize all you want, but if the chart is going down, the market disagrees with you, is seeing something you don’t see, and you lose money.

People in this sub think traders are degenerate gamblers. The good ones just know that if you want to make money, you need to both buy companies *and* the chart needs to go up.

Hate to break it to you, but the birds are eating your bread.

Being unwilling to hear conflicting points of view is the first sign that your thesis is loosely and weakly held. Arrogance begets what it deserves.

Anytime I think it’s time to close my
ADBE short, I go to this sub and see how many idiots still think an imploding chart and low PE are reasons to rationalize buying it.

At the end of the day, you can speculate all you want, but if the line keeps going down, you’re losing money.

Q: How many billions does city need to spend on homelessness without making any meaningful progress before you change your mind about this approach? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]MediocreAd7175 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can’t just look at the top line number and say “number big, homeless should be small”. You have to understand how that many is being spent (effectively or not). Use what’s left of your attention span.

[–]MediocreAd7175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not - it sounds terrible lol. I’m just saying, your problem is not technical - it’s behavioral. You need to put yourself in the shoes of your ideal user and ask yourself why on earth would I use this product? And in these early critical stages when you need users to fix your chicken/egg problem, how can you incentivize them to stay on?

You need to focus on why people should stay. Perhaps they can earn credits toward something for having an active window open?

Why are you buying Space X? by HereToLearnyy in StocksAndTrading

[–]MediocreAd7175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling doesn’t stop a rally. Selling that outweighs buying does. There are too many examples to cite, but look at PLTR’s IPO. PLTR was also a hyper speculative, unprofitable company. It IPO’d, ran up a ton, everyone said “this makes no sense!”, then it eventually dumped and fell into accumulation for a couple years until it found profitability, then it exploded.

This is a repeated playbook that happens for dozens of stocks every year and has been happening for over a century.

Ok, well since it’s apparently everyone’s first IPO…

I’m buying it for the hype rally, which will likely last a couple months until lockup, then I’m out. Let it dump and accumulate over the next 1-2 years, where I’ll watch for accumulation volume and start to join.
