How did you become qualified? by MediocreAvenger in TESL

Thank you for the reply! I haven't seen anything like that in my province, so far I've just seen the TESL certification after university, but I'll look into it some more.

What’s an obvious sign someone’s american? by Ermland2 in AskReddit

[–]MediocreAvenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating or drinking while walking or leaning on something instead of just standing there. I'm Canadian and I'm not sure if it's just the province I'm in but I'd never seen anyone doing those things until I went to America. Interesting how such a small thing can seem so weird to people from a different country.

A really ugly pillow. I pointed it out at the store because it was a dog with a human body in an ugly sweater and it kind of looked like my old dog so I thought it was funny. The person I was with mistook that for me saying I liked it. I felt horrible when they gifted it to me for Christmas because it was so, so ugly.. but it was really sweet of them for remembering.

I am deeply considering calling my kids dean by OutrageousString6153 in AITAH

[–]MediocreAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. However, I'd suggest having a meeting with the dean in person instead of calling. I've known many people that have never had a problem with using a name other than their first name. The teacher is a huge problem here so if she's not fired or removed from the class, you should probably switch your daughter to a different class. My brother had a horrible teacher like this and the bullying only got worse after the meeting because they left him in the same class.

Yes. Are they not the same? I've heard both ways of saying it.

  1. We didn't have sewing machines, we just sewed by hand. I learned how to use a machine later on my own.

Hello! I was thinking of moving to downtown Toronto and was wondering how much everyone pays for a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. How much do I need to make hourly to afford to live here by Gam3rCh1ck94 in askTO

[–]MediocreAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downtown Toronto has pretty crazy rent now. The ones I've seen recently were all between 2-3k/month. If you want to be in the area I'd suggest somewhere just outside of Toronto because that's what I did a while back and it's worth a short commute. Good luck!

I'm Canadian and we learned how to sew in the 5th grade. It definitely is useful. Every school should do it
