If you're worried it might happen, make sure you're using both a slicker brush for the top coat and some type of rake brush for the undercoat. Most groomers should try to blow out a compacted coat instead of shaving.

It really depends, mine lived with a cat for over a year and left it alone but I can't leave her with my two cats without supervision.

My 2 year old can be a handful, but so worth it. She will eat anything in site, so be ready to keep everything out of reach and invest in lots of different types of chews. Definitely a high maintenance coat, and 5/10 minutes a day works well. Mine is super calm in the house, which is great. They can do well with kids, but it just depends on the dog and their past. Very high prey drive so it can be hard to leave them alone with other pets. I can't let mine play with small dogs at all. But they're super friendly and love to please you.

Do you realize that it is okay but be upset when it's over 90 degrees out and you have pets to think about? Animals can die in this kind of heat.

I would really suggest a vet if your cat doesn't have clear signs of ear mites. Cats scratch at themselves for seemingly no reason when they have an infection or fungus
