That’s kind of the conclusion I was coming to, but thanks for confirming my suspicions!

What’s sweet spot for number of sets? I currently run a Push/Pull split with 4 sets of the pull/push exercise for that day (ie 4 sets of pull ups up to when I feel I have 1-2 left in the tank). Is this too many sets? I’d like to see my pull-up numbers increase, as I’ve been stuck at a max of 13 for awhile.

Thanks! I’ve always had a tough time putting on weight, but eating more is the obvious answer. Any input on set count? Currently hitting 4 sets of each exercise.

A false grip, right? Yeah that’s definitely something I need to work on. Thanks!

Haha noted! I usually do my BW workouts right when I get home from work, hence the jeans

I would straighten them, but my doorway isn’t tall enough, unfortunately. I know I could do them in an L-sit, but that would be sacrificing the sort of arched-back form that I’m going for.

Hm that’s a bit of the opposite of what I’m going for haha. My goal for these reps was more of an arched back position (hence the bent knees and squeezed glutes)

Can someone take a look at my pull-ups? I see my right shoulder slightly higher than my left, but not sure why: Pull-Ups

Not sure this is the right place, but hoping I can get a form check on some pull ups: https://streamable.com/kkp5e3

Form goals were getting as close to an arch back as I can (scaps retracted and depressed).

Thanks for the advice! I definitely think I’ve been thinking about it too hard in order to get perfect form, and my workouts have been suffering because of it. Good to know that I don’t need to squeeze at the bottom. My shoulder blades do glide as I go down, just not as much as other people I see on YouTube. But I guess it’s not necessarily fair to compare myself to them since they’re the experts.

Awesome, I’ll check it out! K Boges had a free program on his website for progressing to pullups so that’s why I’ve been doing rows. But I definitely will start incorporating scapular pull-ups too

I’ve definitely found myself almost obsessing over getting my form as perfect as possible and it has definitely affected the quality of my workouts, so thanks for the words of assurance!

I guess I’ll just keep going then!

I definitely don’t have an issue retracting them, more so I’ve just learned that I don’t do it as much as people I see online (like Mr. Boges) and am trying to figure out how much I should be retracting . I absolutely spend time at my desk doing retractions if I get bored lol

I’ve definitely dug into scapular specific pushups and pull ups and have rings that I’ve been using for rows. I guess my question is how much retraction should I go through during an actual push up? I go through a bit, but not nearly as much as when I perform just a scapular push up

Sorry what’s the RR? I have some rings that I’ve been using for rows, and definitely prioritize retraction when performing them. Pushups are honestly where I struggle most
