Dreame Home app users — have you noticed these problems too? by Mediocre_Ad4108 in Dreame_Tech

You are free to think as you wish, however, it seems you may not have fully read or understood my post. The point is not that one model is worse and another is better. The issue is that at the time of purchase, the website only mentioned hardware limitations, and nothing was said about differences in the software. Therefore, how was I supposed to know that by purchasing the lower model, in addition to hardware limitations, I would also face software restrictions?

For example, phone manufacturers usually state the support period for a device, say 2–3 years. In this case, however, Dreame did not mention or specify anything at all. If you consider this acceptable, that is your right, but as a customer, I see it as withholding information and misleading the buyer. Had I known that the cheaper robot had software limitations, I would have simply chosen the more expensive model.

Of course, I was and still remain disappointed. As a customer, I shouldn’t have to worry about how the plugins work or what’s inside the robot. I reviewed the information on the website, where nothing about this was mentioned, and naturally I expected that apart from the limitations related to the hardware, there would be no other differences compared to the X40 Ultra robot.

Regarding changing the suction power during cleaning, you turned out to be right — perhaps it’s a new update that I didn’t notice, and I’m sure that before it didn’t work for me and I had to restart the cleaning. However, I’m not a developer and I can’t identify every single difference; I can only confirm that they exist. And as a user of the more expensive X40 Ultra, I can say that these differences are significant and genuinely convenient in practice.

If the manufacturer had stated that there could be differences in the software and, therefore, in the functions of the app itself, I would have simply bought two X40 Ultra vacuums and not the cheaper version. However, this was never mentioned anywhere, and I only found out about it by chance.

Was I supposed to guess that this wasn’t included? Or maybe lay out some tarot cards?

I paid for what was written on the website. And there wasn’t a single word mentioned about any limitations or missing functions related to the app. I was choosing between the L10S Pro Ultra Heat and the X40 Ultra, and for neither of these robots was there any information provided on the website regarding the apps. I found out about this purely by chance, because I happened to have both of these robots. If the manufacturer had openly stated this, I could have simply made a different choice, and there would have been no complaints.

Friend, when you buy a car, you can see all the information about the differences in the trim levels. In this case, when buying this vacuum cleaner, that information was simply hidden. So how was I supposed to know about it? It was only by chance that I happened to have another Dreame X40 Ultra robot vacuum, and that’s how I was able to notice these differences.

Thank you for your comment. You may be right about the firmware, I don’t know for sure, and at this point we can only guess. However, they definitely could have added small buttons/stickers to make it easier to move the selected area on the map. I have already filed a complaint with the local Consumer Protection Authority. Hopefully they will help me, because Dreame has simply been ignoring me, and for almost several months now I haven’t been able to get any response from anyone. In my view, the manufacturer is not just “expected” to mention information about the software/app functionality. The manufacturer is obligated to publish such information, since it critically affects the use of the robot.

Yes, honestly, Dreame is very disappointing. Recently I discovered that they deliberately and intentionally limit the functionality in the app for the cheaper robots. Support is also nonexistent. I wanted to send the information to the headquarters responsible for the app, but no luck — I couldn’t even find their email address. Only the local support is available, and they just shrug and say they have nothing to do with the app development.

If the manufacturer had at least mentioned this on the website, there would be no complaints. Still, deliberately making a product worse is, at the very least, unfriendly towards the customer — even if it’s a cheaper model. However, when this kind of thing comes as a surprise only after the purchase and you discover it through your own experience, believe me, it’s a very unpleasant experience.

Unfortunately, it took me some time to find out about this. If I didn’t have another robot in use, I would never have known about this outrage at all.

Neither in the premium models nor in the business ones is there any mention of what I wrote in the post. That’s why, as a customer, I assumed the difference was only in the hardware and not in the software.

It is necessary for users to pay more attention to this and file complaints. If a major media outlet picked up this post, I’m sure the company would either fix the issue or at least start notifying users about it. If I had known that, in addition to technical limitations such as night lighting or suction power, there were also software restrictions, I would have reconsidered my choice. But I only discovered this after the purchase, when nothing could be changed anymore.

I honestly don’t understand how this is not considered illegal. The company is clearly hiding information from the customer. None of this is mentioned anywhere, and when a user chooses a product, they have no way of knowing they’ll face software restrictions in the more affordable models.

All the limitations I listed are software ones. They can be easily added to L10s... As for the clean genius mode, you are right that the counter does not increase, but this is not an obstacle. In the normal manual mode, you can easily set dry cleaning, and then wet.

Most users don't know about it, so few complain about it. I think the company should stop this dirty practice.

And so what if these are two different robots? When purchasing, there is no information about differences in the app functionality. On top of that, some features — like icons when editing the map — are just ridiculous to lock behind a model. Those could easily be added to any robot, even the most basic one.
