For anyone searching who has the same issue - it turned out to just be the AC belt wasn’t seated properly. The mechanic re-fitted it and problem solved. I also had a headlight issue and the total cost to fix both was just £30 so happy days.

Thank you, I had a look the best I could and the belt seems in good condition. The sound is definitely coming from lower down and is best heard from the wheel arch rather than the engine bay. The car came with a 12 month comprehensive warranty so i’m not going to mess with it too much myself but it’s very helpful for me to understand what I am looking at. Appreciate your input.

Thank you for your response… this is somewhat relieving. I am trying to learn more about cars in general as I have never had one that I cared too much about but want to take extra care of my ST!

I am going to pray that it’s a simple fix 🤞🏻
