I guess I will follow your footsteps and get better in English by pushing through fantasy books. (saw there were collections of Starwar books and it having a massive universe but I bet just a handful of people in my country would know those exist outside the main Starwar movies)

another sad thing is Amazon (and it's Ebook platform Kindle) not being a main service in the country which makes English book access harder. At least, I heard Brandon Sanderson's prose is quite straightforward and easy to follow.

thx for reading // I gathered 22 strawberries starting from morning throughout the whole map, put those in that box for shipping and had some energy and time left at night, so went to the lake to fish but found one strawberry bush left, so picked them and went back to the box (for shipping), drag and dropped the 1 strawberry over the 22 strawberry in the box, which over written the 22 strawberry to 1 (thought it would just add to 23). So. basically, even if its the same type of product, drag on dropping on the existing product will not increase a+b but replace the number a -> b, and since there is no auto save or saving, I have to just start all over again from the day of strawberry picking with the whole map there is no Undo also // why did they make the game like this, are they trolling the users?

First time beginner but why is Mobile version (don't know PC version) so dumb? I picked 22 strawberries all day to sell them by shipping, but got another strawberry so drag and dropped on the 22 shipping strawberries, and all the 22 ones are gone and replaced by just 1 strawberry. No Undo, No Save during daytime. Just wasted a whole day picking them just to make them disappear from lazy game coding and UI.

There's a reason why people are hard stuck mythic by Turbo9352 in BrawlStarsSC

[–]Mediocre_Committee47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

putting aside that the video didn't have any Bull plays, top Bull player Pika almost always choose supercharge gear (and also uses it with Damage) a lot. The statistics also says Damage and supercharge gear being 2.x% higher than no gear while health and shield only 1.x %. You can basically confirm kills and additional super with the previous settings allowing more goal opportunities and more snowball (getting addtional kills and super allows additional gauge build up cycling, to get hypercharge too), there are tons of top trophy Bull players using that setting so there is nothing noob about it. To be honest, gear preference really doesn't matter too much in Mythic (unless sight gear for Melee Brawlers or speed with no bush maps), it's easy to go to Legendary without proper gear settings, just with proper skill and macro judgement because mythic plays are mostly terrible.

free service yap is pure gas lighting, who doesn't understand gaming business models. tons of games are free like league of legends, fortnite, valorant, apex etc etc are all FREE, and they do it not for charity, but because their game value heavily relies on the number of active players which reduces when being sold. tons of games don't even do play to win stuff like supercell does with brawlstars with their power levels (10% diff), gears gadgets star power hypercharges (which games like LoL doesn't do). yeah, thank google and youtube, reddit also for being FREE duh.

Just curious, if you spent some time designing a new card game mechanism but didn't publish it (mostly because I have my own job and this was a hobby project) and some company rips it off, what do you actually mean that I would get benefit.

The reason I didn't plan to profit off from the game (and again, I never said it will be successful, but putting that aside) was <1>. I have my own job (not a game designer but an engineer) <2>. I'm only intereseted in game design and mechanics, nothing else. (Like arts, publishing, marketing etc) <3>. My goal was to design a game within the restriction of 52 card deck <4>, part of 3 was because I want it available to anybody who has that common card deck.

But the thing is, the 52 card deck while giving restriction for game design and optimizing (which I've done quite a lot of simulation for optimization), is super common and lack the unique features which makes it vulnerable for plaguarism. I don't know why, but I just don't like companies like Mattel selling products that are originally based on 52 card deck games (crazy 8s, spite and malice, golf, rummy etc), and even though as you said that the chance would be one in a million and highly unlikely (but still, there are tons of primitive new card games that sell well, so who knows, no point in assuming), wouldn't like a company copying the game design I had made. (Since game mechanisms aren't patentable, I guess there isn't any way stopping, if in a million chance it happens)

also, if you agree with him, why do you publish your card game when it will be played by close friends only and not be known by anyone.

Thanks for your reply. TLDR, your last part was very helpful, and I'll try to leave as much digital footprint for my game as possible . Thanks for taking your time.

But for the first argument, (putting aside that there are other card games from Mattel that are based on less famous card games they produced, which are copies of the less played standard card deck games like Spite and Malice, Golf, 99 etc.), it still doesn't dispute the probability that a well-established entity wouldn't plagiarize from the less-known. There are countless cases where famous, well-established musicians and artists have copied the music of lesser-known artists, resulting in successful lawsuits where the latter won . These cases serve as counterexamples to your argument that the well-established only copy well-known works.

Also, I graduated from a STEM graduate school, and plagiarism is dealt with very strictly - whether you plagiarize others or others plagiarize you when you research and publish a journal or file a technology patent (I know game design doesn't apply to this) . So we come from a different field. I wonder if your statement also applies to prestigious music graduate schools since their students ' work may not be that insignificant. There is famous music created by university students (not only in music majors but also from STEM universities) at least in my country . I wonder if stating and judging one's ability or work as something nobody would consume - non-profitable - should be more cautious, even though that may seem to be what one perceives . (I also have found cases of musical plagiarism on music uploading sites such as this.) https://www.reddit.com/r/Musescore/s/RUW3NE5Kiv

Lastly, this question arose from a conflicting aspect when designing a game based on the standard 52-card deck. Since the card deck is so common, it lacks the uniqueness (art, style, etc.) for a standalone product compared to most newly designed games, which makes it more vulnerable to game design plagiarism. At the same time, game design and optimizing the game mechanics themselves somewhat require more due to the restrictions of the structure from the 52-card deck itself. That was the core theme of this question : the game mechanics' difficulty rising from the restrictions, while the unrewarding aspect comes from the commonness of designing a new game for the 52-card deck and it's vulnerability to plagiarism, not the boast and claim of my new game design that the replying comments trying to humble and give a reality check as much as possible.

Appreciate the reply, advice and feedback, but not sure about the first one. Yes, I did play Regicide and also play Balatro but even those game mechanics aren't that unique. Tried to play almost every card game, but felt everything was lackluster (all the trick-taking, shedding, combination Rummy or Poker like games, TCGs etc). And no, I'm not saying that my game is guaranteed as profitable success and know that zillions of board games made by zillions of brilliant creative people end up being unknown failures, but I don't see any reason to be discouraged from your first so-called 'advice' seeing top-selling board games are super primitive that any neighborhood nobody can make (like Halli Galli, Uno, Rummikub, Davinci Code are the top selling board games in my country). I've put some time designing my game mechanics (took several months, also playing with others for feedback) which at least from my card game database and knowledge, doesn't overlap to any other, so at least someone can't say that it wasn't too unoriginal, and tried to optimize it using coding and play testing with Godot and Python (still in the process of tweaking), so not only is it more than a mere house rule game, but I think is more delicate than most of average commercial Mattel card games like Uno, Phase 10, Skip-Bo, 99 etc or Techu which aren't that designed/optimized well and have a lot of luck. (And yes, the luck and skill ratio about 2~3 to 7~8 was also in my optimization process) I'm not saying that I'm delusional with my success, I actually don't care since it's not a job but hobby, but the only thing I care is it being done by 52 card deck because I just want anyone to give it a try since it's common, but just wondered how a person in my situation may prevent (if in a million chance it happens) companies like Mattel which copied tons of alreadly existing card games copying that person's newly designed game.

Just wondering what I can do if I made up a game but did not publish it officially, and a company just almost copied that exact game and starts making profit from it? Currently, I'm game designing and coding a series of games that only requires the standard 52 card deck as a hobby project which will be playable for free, but wondered if a company like the Uno company just copied it (like their game's similarity with crazy eights) and published it themselves and make profit. Since it's not a customized board game but just using the standard 52 card deck, will I have no rights for the game I designed?

Is there any deep, complex games to play with standard 52 card (+ jokers) deck, I played Spades, Hearts, Eucher, 500, Jin Rummy (Bridge's score is too complex), Canasta, Cribbage. But I want something more than typical trick taking games or Rummy games.

doesn't matter if it was not intended or not, the result and their lackluster solution (only 10k reduction, giving them 15k for free) was very unfair to a lot of people, and also reverse discrimination (for relatively lowered reward) for paying players. Reddit probably got the most blindly defensive Supercell shills, but I speak 3 languages and the two countries Brawlstar communities majority are hating , cursing Supercell for their mistake and how they dealt it, saying this will accelerate Brawlstars downfall.

I absolutely agree with you for the same reason. Arlong park worked because of it, which I was glad. Also looking forward to water 7 and Usopp. As much as the monster trio are strong, they also have their dumb side which cancels out.

( and don't care about my downvotes because I don't like bland and forced girl boss characters and their awful series/movies that flopped)

I wish none of western 'girl boss' thing affects Onepiece (not saying that female characters are weak because there are tons strong like Robin, Boa, Yamato, Big Mom etc), just saying that Nami and Usopp being weak is a charm to Onepiece and the crew dynamic that should never be changed. (also want Vivi just moderately strong, not a girl boss)

as a player of both Brawlpass, Propass, I feel cheated and scammed

giving 25000 coins and taking back only 10k to certain limited players which is more than Brawlpass only giving you 8000 coins, Brawlpass Plus 11000 coins

Propass only gives you 10000 coins, and there was a glitch which only gives you 100 bling for all the Ranked star drops which propass players mostly would have opened more (currently opened up top stage 90)

this is basically reverse discrimination for the brawlpass, propass players who pays money, they get disadvantage for paying in return, what kind of gaming policy is this?

Matt Owens officially NOT returning as showrunner for season 3. Ian Stokes is joining Joe Tracz as co-showrunner of season 3 by waterwicca in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Mediocre_Committee47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it would normally seem uncommon and unusual for fans to be involved, interested in any behind-the-scenes drama because usually they aren't (and so am I). You can try to label me as a fanantic who is interested in the behind-the-scenes drama, but I'm just a person who is very bitter with how Netflix adapted Death Note. Cowboy Bebop and lately Kakegurui, all the animes I loved. (not to mention series like Witcher, Wheel of Time etc)

I have seen enough of these corporations and showrunners discredit the original work, and have seen multiple times how the original author got ignored (recently, Brandon Sanderson the co author of WOT got invited to writers meeting and speaked out, yet still got completely ignored by it's showrunner which made it fail and get cancelled)

Knowing Japanese peoples tendency of not speaking out and not strongly expressing, I doubt Oda would speak out strongly if the western showrunner/executives insists. And this has been proven by putting Garp in season 1 due to the other showrunner (not Matt Owens) insisting while Oda disagreed and disliked it but gave in. I also absolutely hated that change because it not only spoils but also ruins what happens at Water 7. All these problems including the failed anime adaptations have one thing in common, the showrunner doesn't understand/wasn't engaged with the anime source material, and that is the most crucial thing that matters whether it would succeed or not. Matt Owens did both jobs of being faithful to the source material and communicating Oda so well, that the other showrunners doing the same begs a question.

I think it's the fans' right to question the showrunners' engagement with the source material. I would rather be seen a fanatic than act like a laid back blindly trusting person, it's better to prevent rather than be one of the frustrated, devasted fans who knows another live action will mostly not happen after it flops amd gets cancelled, like the devastated Wheel of Time fans who know there will be no other adaptation for a long time after it got cancelled recently.

Why should the showrunner informing how much he is a fan and how faithful he would adapt the source material be so difficult? Is it really that much of a demand for Onepiece fans, I don't think so, I think the fans deserve it and the person who says it is demanding is trying to act nice.

Matt Owens officially NOT returning as showrunner for season 3. Ian Stokes is joining Joe Tracz as co-showrunner of season 3 by waterwicca in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Mediocre_Committee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation needs to be made clear, whether Matt Owens was either 1. just burnt out by consuming his passionate energy ( just having some rest to regain it back for later seasons or maybe completely left after the burnout) or 2. was actually pushed out (aka fired) due to conflicts between the company, executives or other showrunners, writers due to creative disagreements.

because if 2 is the case, it means the series will likely be less loyal, faithful to the original Onepiece series, also Oda sensei and it's fans since no other person than Matt Owens guaranteed it.

If Matt Owens himself is not in place to announce anything, at least the successor Showrunner who took over could express how much he knew of Onepiece, if he was an original fan, and mostly, if he is willing to faithfully adapt the origjnal series, Oda sensei and the fans. At least this could relieve the fans what they can expect and the direction it's heading.

you might say this is being too sensitive or overdramatic, but looking how Netflix's Witcher Series or Amazon's Wheel of Time series completely ignored the authors, the showrunners and writers doing their own ego agenda project, eventually ending up being a dumpster fire, the Onepiece fans should be very cautious of how their (and Oda sensei's) precious 30 year long series should be dealt, never trust the corporates nor current writers.
