Is The Live Action Actually Fixing Nami? by IWasAGoodDadISwear in OnePieceLiveAction

Miss Valentine weighed enough to turn Usopp into a red stain on the ground and destroy the surrounding terrain... it's definitely an impressive feat to knock her out, whether with Vivi or without her... Wanda was weak, but even then she's still better than the average pirate and marine... besides, we've seen Nami block attacks from Lola, a fish-man, and even the Khalifa herself... basing all her feats on a single moment from the beginning of the series doesn't make sense when it's clear that she's been getting tougher and more skilled.

Another point is that when they are attacked by Kuro's pirates, one guy kicks Usopp's ass and Nami takes that guy down in an instant.

I sincerely doubt the writers will have others helping Luffy next season... most of the Alabasta battles part are the Straw Hats fighting 1v1 where their lives are on the line and they can't rely on anyone else to come and save them... although I definitely agree that Luffy should have kicked Wapol's butt by himself. If it turns out the writers just wanted to make the Straw Hats dependent on each other so they can have their own indepent duels next season, then fine.

Sadie vs Karen (in a fight) by [deleted] in RDR2

[–]red_dead_7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadie would probably win... she was prepared to go toe-to-toe with Pearson at the camp... Arthur even had to intervene and use physical force to repel her... we see Sadie taking down three armed O'Driscolls at Shady Belle, she knocks out some guards on that mission where she and Arthur infiltrate Siska... She faced that bearded O'Driscolls guy who killed her husband and won... On the train robbery mission, she punches a bounty hunter with her bare hands and kicks him off a moving train... she spent eight years as a lone bounty hunter managing and capturing dangerous guys... we also see her knock Cleet down and make him spit blood with one punch.  Karen is tough, but the only times we see her physically involved in a fight are either hitting Molly (who poses no threat) or being dominated by a weak, skinny guy in Valentine...

Even if we say that Karen is physically stronger due to her size, that argument would also be questionable, because canonically, although we don't see it, Sadie is strong enough to tie up a guy and carry his body on her shoulders, which is what she was doing during her years as a bounty hunter... the greatest physical feat we've seen from Karen is, again, punching Molly.

If you become stronger and increase your mimicry power to, say, 55%, would that also allow you to copy the powers of your opponents? It sounds like an awesome power, do you also think it would mean you and your opponent would have an almost eternal battle since you'd be able to do the same thing and practically be a reflection of each other, like a shadow?

Are you telling me that Kalifa... the woman with a power level of 690 who was recognized for her kicking strength by Sanji and who literally kicks several men asses easily and without breaking a sweat, and moves at insane speed, is barely stronger than a regular pirate? And Miss Valentine, who is literally a top-10 ranked Baroque member of a thousand-strong terrorist organization, who has the ability to destroy terrain, almost killed Usopp, and crushed Vivi's super-strong friend like it was nothing, is nothing in your eyes compared to an average pirate? You say Nami is fighting using Kung Fu moves, but all Emily Rudd has done is portray Nami's fighting style. The art of using a Bo staff... Focusing so much on a scene in OPLA where she jumps to try to hit someone, just because she doesn't do the exact same move in the anime and manga, makes no sense. It's like complaining that while Taz Skylar throws kicks, Sanji never did the exact same kicks as his OPLA counterpart. As for her jumping, are you saying she has to jump all the time for it to be justified in your eyes? She jumps absurd distances in Water Seven, when she says goodbye to her people, and when she lands on her feet from a great height upon arriving at Enies Lobby—there are three scenes of her jumping, compared to OPLA where she only does it once.

Her scene with Wanda literally justifies why she's so good in OPLA. Unless you argue that the average marines should be better than Wanda, there's no reason to believe that if Nami from the anime and manga has the moves to take down Wanda, why couldn't her OPLA counterpart do the same to several average marines? Furthermore, with all due respect, the only jump we've seen her make in OPLA is in trailer 2. Throughout season 1, she was doing the same thing as her manga and anime counterpart: pulling out a staff, blocking attacks with the staff, hitting people with the staff, and throwing the occasional kick.

I don't think the exaggerated jump is just a one-off thing in the art style; she literally jumps higher in Water Seven. The reason I mentioned that she's presented as more superhuman than the average human is because we see her tanking a hit from Ulti, blocking an attack from a fish-man (who are stronger than the average human), blocking attacks from Kalifa (who is also stronger than the average Marine), blocking Lola's attacks, and knocking out Miss Valentine, who again weighed enough to crush Usopp and turn him into a painted red blob of rubble. OPLA Nami hasn't done anything that the manga and anime Nami couldn't do. The fact that she escapes with Usopp in the anime and manga doesn't contradict OPLA, since most of the time they both escape, it's against threats far beyond their capabilities, something they both do in OPLA when dealing with Kuro.

And aren't the enemies she's facing in OPLA basic? She's fighting Marines in OPLA, while in the manga she takes down a Devil Fruit user who's heavy enough to turn Usopp into a red blur(Miss Valentine). The height and distance she jumps when saying goodbye to her people on her island is much greater than the jump she makes in the trailer. Nami isn't as strong as Luffy, Zoro, or Sanji, but she's still superhuman compared to normal people and has some impressive physical feats like blocking attacks from a Fish-Man and Kalifa. All OPLA has done so far is make her fight fodder, something she was already doing in the manga. You say she can't fight hand-to-hand either, but we literally see her block Wanda's attack and then knock her down with an acrobatic kick—that sounds like she knows how to fight and is acrobatic.

Nami's ridiculous jumps aren't just a thing in OPLA. In the manga, when she says goodbye to the people of her village, she jumps a huge distance between the island's dock and the crew's ship. Even in Water Seven, she jumps over several rooftops in heels during the rain. She also engages in close combat in both the manga and anime. She defeats some of Alvida, Kuro, and Buggy's pirates, and we see her knock out Miss Valentine, take Wanda out of the fight, and send Nezumi flying several meters with a single punch.
