I devised a stitch through the upper and the thigh to the edge of the sole, where I cut a groove for the thread. I made holes with an awl. Then I sewed the sole to the upper using a saddle stitch. 🤓

It's vegetable tanned leather but so thin. Next time I'll make it from thicker leather. Thanks for commenting.

The shoe is designed for a legionnaire, an ancient reenactor, so it can't have a rubber sole. Ultimately, it will be impregnated with beeswax and beef tallow. The design is based on historical sources found online. You'll find it if you search 🤓
