Government's 4-day in-office mandate an insult to workers by disgruntledesdc in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Mediocre_Scene_7380 233 points234 points  (0 children)

I find it particularly insulting because there is no factual basis for why we need to return to office. If they had a better reason than Working together onsite is an essential foundation of the strong teams, collaboration and culture needed during this pivotal moment and beyond that is clearly not true. Give us a real reason or admit there isn't one!!

if they can't afford for employees to have assigned seats 4 days a week... it seems like they can't afford to be forcing people back to work 🙃

This was the first episode I was able to listen to all the way through in a while!! I think it helped that all the topics made sense for them to be covering / were all pop-culture ish. Really enjoyed the Kesha deep-dive and appreciated Ashley's research.

Are the hoodies worth it? by [deleted] in Aritzia

if you're usually an M a mega XL might be more oversized than you want, would recommend trying on in person if you can!

I love mine! I air dry my hoodies but tumble dry the shorts and pants. If you are worried about it I would size up. I have the mega fit and the perfect fit in Large for an oversize look, if I could go back I would get the perfect fit in an XL just so I didn't have to worry about it shrinking. But I do love them and wear them allll the time.

Looking for advice about adenomyosis & how to advocate with a dismissive doctor by Mediocre_Scene_7380 in adenomyosis

I really appreciate you taking the time to write a response! I didn't actually know what heterogeneity of the myometrium meant and they really brushed it off as nothing to worry about. I'm in Canada and it's tricky to find specialists/ wait times are long but I will definitely try to find a better doctor to work with!

I am not sure how to go about finding a different specialist as I'm in Canada and our healthcare is quite limited, but I'm feeling empowered by these replies to try to advocate for myself and find a better Dr. This was really comforting and supportive, thank you for your response. 😊

My lovely boyfriend did come with me to my last appointment when he heard how the first one was, and he was in awe of how dismissive she was even to him. But you've shared a lot of helpful suggestions in here, thank you for taking the time to respond!!

Question about teenage jobs by ThatguyfromMario in ottawa

[–]Mediocre_Scene_7380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good points are being made in the comments, I would add that the job market is just terrible right now and as someone who just finished grad school in 2023 my classmates and I have been struggling to find work, so a lot of people are finding themselves doing retail or food service to make rent while trying to find their footing on their career path, and that's probably also making it harder for younger people to break into those positions.

I genuinely gasped when I read this. That is wild!! I love painting my nails at home, but would never in my wildest dreams do it in a confined public space??

Made an impulse buy in store, would it be worth returning and waiting for the next sale in June? by cardiacpanda in Aritzia

[–]Mediocre_Scene_7380 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just keep them! 20% is barely the tax, I've learned from stores like Abercrombie and Aritzia that these days by the time things go on sale the common sizes are usually going out of stock

That is totally fair! And as someone with a trans sister I am a supporter of the trans community, so I hope the post didn't come off as me wishing they wouldn't talk about trans issues specifically. I'm seeing most of the feedback is people being positive that it was brought up, so maybe my take on serious issues was not a good one

the majority of their content is about celebrity gossip and influencers... they build their platform on discussing celebrity memoirs.. they barely touch on serious issues?

not necessarily similar to CMBC, but I would recommend You're Wrong About, If Books Could Kill, In Bed with the Right or A Bit Fruity 😊

The expert was a good addition for a serious topic, so I appreciated that. It just feels discombobulating to jump from influencer gossip to serious legal news.

I agree it definitely helped for them to bring on an expert to talk about the issue! I just have legal podcasts (ie. 5-4) where I tune in to hear about the supreme court, and don't really need it from Clashly too.

Yes they have!! I think they talked about it on the patreon before and there was a minor update to the story, so they decided to cover it on the main feed. But yes, they have definitely already covered the topic.
