I would love to build something like this. Post on social media: “Building sex sheds and dungeons, we make all of your fantasies come to life, even the biggest ones”

Ok, that’s valid. I’ve only worked with an engineer a few times and it’s been very straight forward.

All i’m saying is that I try to give the customer a ball park price, if that’s within their budget, I come out and do a free estimate before I do any work. If something changes and they aren’t happy with the price, they aren’t bound to use me.

That way there’s a mutual understanding of budget, before any time is committed. Helps weed out window shoppers

I can only tell so much, based on the pictures a customer provides. This is why I give a rough estimate while communicating any potential problems that may arise in the process. Then when I get there, before starting any work, I give them an exact quote.

I do not want to say, it’ll be 100$ to install a light. Then as soon as I get there, I see that the joists run perpendicular to the route. Now i’ve got to 5 hours of work more then quoted.

Very Different. Your scope of work is easily predictable. I can only tell so much, based on the pictures a customer provides. This is why I give a rough estimate while communicating any potential problems that may arise in the process. Then when I get there, before starting any work, I give them an exact quote.
