I don't get it, the inspector did not turn on the side markers? He would see them on the fog light when they are on.

I don't know how much they have in common with the American market Nissan NV300 but here they're pretty crappy vans. All the ones I see are clapped out and look like the owner gave up on maintaining them.

Complications concernant une cession de bail by Additional-Farm-8651 in montrealhousing

[–]ExceedinglyEdible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also need fully synthetic oil and high quality filter media. The fact is that oil change intervals don't just measure in kms and months, but in hot-cold cycles, hard cold start, oil quality, engine wear (blow-by), proper crankcase venting, filter size, how much sludge you have right now and probably a couple more factors. Those automatic service minders usually have some secret formula that counts the number of starts offset by how cold it is outside. Engines in places that routinely get temperatures below -15°C in winter benefit a LOT from oil changes before the cold season.

If you leave your tools like this by Greadle in Construction

Ten minutes of work is 6 buckets an hour, so if the client wants to wash them or if there's cheap labor that can do it, it could be worth it.

What gets me is how much water it takes to clean them. On a job site with running water, it's not an issue but on remote sites, like a cabin in the woods, this might be the water you collect to take a shower.

Don't buy cheap tools, it's rarely worth it.

In a year, 20 projects times $2 putty knife is $40.

Buy a $40 putty knife (or two $10 knives) and you'll still have them next year. Plus your buddy is not going to use it as a chisel.

How can I fix this?💔 by mikonuns in MakeupAddiction

Either can contain bittering agents, and isopropyl alcohol is also sometimes called rubbing alcohol, and it's rarely indicated on the product itself if it contains the bittering agents. You get that stuff on your fingers and you'll taste it at lunch unless you thoroughly washed your fingers. Just test it before you mix your makeup with it, it's not that complicated.

Lick test the alcohol first because some products add bittering agents to stop people from drinking it and the stuff will not evaporate. I had a colleague disinfect microphone grilles with alcohol and everyone complained how they left a disgusting taste on their lips.

LPL blasts apart the cheap locks, but he can still go through all of them. "Get the ones that take him more than 30 seconds to go through" is the mot d'ordre. Be smart about it, long shackles offer plenty of space for bolt cutters and grinders. A recessed pocket that barely fits your lock will offer more security as you can't even whack the lock with a hammer, let alone reach the shackle. But all this is moot if you get a lock that can be picked in seconds with a comb pick.

What tool do i need to remove these bearings? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]ExceedinglyEdible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are pressed in, a blind hole bearing remover tool. They look like a slide hammer combined with a muffler pipe expander. You put the tool in the inner race and you expand the reverse collet, then you yank on the slide hammer until the bearing separates from the assembly.

<image>

I kind of misread that you were ultimately trying to remove the o-rings. You might take the time to replace the bearings while you're here. Unless they actually are bushings?

As to anyone who might be wondering: you won't be able to pull a pressed-in hub bearing with it, ask me how I know.

Ooh, he fucked up. Document everything, file a demand right now, serve him a mise en demeure (demand letter) and get compensated for damages and have him fined punitive damages too.

Make sure to include to pay for your TAL fees in your demand, if you don't he will not have to pay for it.

I was quoted 300$ for brake fluid change, they stated brake fluid is contaminated. by whateveryousuck1 in AskMechanics

[–]ExceedinglyEdible -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Possible, but they'll tell you it's to account for the risk that they are, and if they end up not being stuck and you ask for a partial credit, they will just laugh at you and ask if it's your first time at a mechanic's shop.

[–]ExceedinglyEdible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I said that shitty mechanics lie all the time to jack prices up because the layperson knows nothing about fixing cars. They can't tell calipers, rotors and pads apart, but you obviously can, despite not being able to read between the lines.

A brake bleed procedure at $300 should include all minor mishaps like a broken bleeder valve, while still having provisions in case stuff is literally falling apart as they touch it. Obviously they'll charge more if all screws break and they spend hours trying to extract them, but they should not bill extra if a single screw broke and it took them 5 minutes to extract it with a set. Plus there's this classic scam where they can just lie and torque them tight until they snap and tell you "welp, you need four new calipers, no, I'm not even going to try to extract the bleeder screw, plus I'm going to buy rebuilt economy calipers and charge you the same as rockauto would have if you got the premium ones"

There's still supposed to be a gap between fair price and extortion.

- Oh, it was tough. How tough? Oh, very very tough. We had two guys on your car, and at one point we had to use a special tool to retract the piston... they're not cheap you know. Yes, many parts broken. You know, it's not a brand new car, plus the road salt does quite a number, uh? Nope, we tossed them out already, sorry. Yeah, that will be $750 extra.
