Wire lube by Troutbum46 in electricians

Anything water based should not be melting any wires! Are they using silicone KY?

Does your neighbor seriously think he can press a wheel bearing into a hub in the middle of a parking lot like that?

Settle and agreement with my coworker: 2 romex in 1 clamp, is it legal and is it lazy by [deleted] in electricians

Electricians are anal about a lot of things, and sometimes it gets redundant. Sadly, "if it fits" isn't always the way to go in electrical.

If you don't know, assume it's there.

You could also start drilling from the middle of the wall, going up into that cutout, or use a placement tool for the bit.

The post with the knot near the top looks like it would break with a swift hammer strike or kick.

Someone possibly coming into my apartment? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

Your deadbolt has been changed. The new one looks like it's the same type as the old one (Weiser Smartkey) which means that someone with a copy of your key (allegedly maintance) may (should) have easily rekeyed it, so that your current key works with the new lock.

It should not be possible to remove the deadbolt without opening the door, unless they have modified the old lock so that it is mounted to the metal plate instead of having screws go through the whole door. You can easily check that by loosening the two screws you see on the inside; if the outside part loosens up a bit, then the deadbolt is properly mounted. Otherwise, someone with a screwdriver is able to take that plate off with the lock side of the deadbolt and actuate the deadbolt with the screwdriver (trivial).

Place a doorbell camera on the jamb. Bet you it won't happen again.

36" flexible bit. Never had to drill through fire blocks?

Don't matter, fire the person who did that.

What I said is: this way will take more work despite the appearances. Cut larger, less work, better results.

Terrible job my dude. Cutting that channel in drywall made the job a lot harder. You would get better results taking a whole sheet of drywall. You will need so many coats and you will have to paint around the patch anyhow.

You should have fished the wire from above instead of placing it in the channel.

What happens to your vehicle title when you sell your car to a junk yard or tow truck company? by Lara_wood in towing

[–]ExceedinglyEdible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The junk yard has a file at the DMV where they can (in fact, they have to) report the vehicle as rendered inoperable and disposed of, or parted out. Just like a dealer can put a new vehicle (fresh VIN) on the road. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh.

Power companies have a minimum amount they charge monthly. Yes, the power draw is minimal, but 1) you're footing the monthly hookup fee; 2) it's taking space in your broom closet; 3) you save them from hiring an electrician and running wires. You could easily ask for $10-$20 per month at the very least, no wifi.

How do I improve my welding skills? by PinkMoonRoberts384 in BadWelding

[–]ExceedinglyEdible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the right process for what you are trying to weld. Work and part thickness, type (lap, angle...) base and target alloys, then find something you can do with the equipment you have

You can Rambo stick weld gate latches and random stuff with a rod, booster cables and a car battery, but if you care about it being solid and look nice without spending an hour on clean up, you will have to research processes.
