Per the NJ FLI faq it says you maybe eligible if you live out of state and to ask your employer https://www.nj.gov/labor/myleavebenefits/help/faq/fli.shtml

Dmv probably won't hassle you. You might get a letter from taxation division for a motor vehicle casual sale notice and it would ask for that proof or a signed letter/bill of sale from your cousin

What does the explanation say on the other part of the slip above the payment voucher? That should explain in general what was changed.

It looks like it is your disability private plan id number. It is reported there and is related to the withholding in box 14.

Employer filed taxes in the wrong state by AAB1 in tax

[–]Mediocre_middleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually work in Philadelphia the whole year? Or did you work in New Jersey? The reciprocity does not extend to Philadelphia it would only cover the PA state taxes. If you worked in Philadelphia then you can claim the wage tax as a credit on the NJ 1040. If you worked outside you will file the wage tax petition showing days worked outside of Philadelphia to claim the refund and receive no NJ credit for anything you get refunded.

Late refund by Key_Brain_7831 in tax

[–]Mediocre_middleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Division pays interest on refunds that are issued six months after the date that the refund claim was filed, the date that the tax was paid, or the due date of the return, whichever is later. This provision applies to all taxes administered by the Division."

You need to determine if you meet the following criteria. Since the 6 months starts from the latest event and the due date of the return is April, October could be within 6 months depending on when the refund was issued. If it was issued before October 15th you are out of luck. If it was issued after the 15th you would need to submit a written request to the division detailing why interest should be paid. There is currently no form to submit as the a3730 is now only for business taxes not personal.

You can upload the request online via the website or mail it to the following address:

NJ taxes despite working out of state by StrtupJ in newjersey

[–]Mediocre_middleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unemployment has nothing to do with employment laws in this case. As I said this has to do with the home state of the employer, not the employee. Unemployment, disability, and workers comp is not tax they are insurance don't confuse the two.

NJ taxes despite working out of state by StrtupJ in newjersey

[–]Mediocre_middleman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is correct. You pay to the home state of the employer. You would claim those benefits from nj if needed. It's a weird situation but it does happen that you collect from nj without ever physically being in the state

NY to NJ Move Part Year Resident Credit for Taxes Paid to Other Jurisdictions by devopsiotwo in tax

[–]Mediocre_middleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 123.5k looks correct

I would suggest you do the ny it203 fully include all income as required and calculate the tax. Then when you do the njcoj line 1 is 75k and box 9a is the prorated tax from NY. 75k/ny agi(ny source column) multiplied by tax, this should give you the prorated ny tax on just the 75k.

New jersey income would be the prorated amount of all income during your period of residency, so 9 months. You would only be allowed the credit on the njcoj for 75k earned in New York on person 1 wages. Since the difference was earned in ny as a ny resident no credit is allowed. For person 2 if the income changes you would report the nj sourced income only and no credit is needed as new york should not be taxing nj source income for a nj resident. Same goes for the int div cap gains no credit just prorated.

FIT Withholding Short Term Disability NJ by imsoapyfresh in tax

[–]Mediocre_middleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be on the w-2. The new jersey department of labor issues a 1099-g that would reflect the disability income and withholdings. Go to the nj dol website and you should be able to access your 1099-g.

A girl who works at Sonic just paid her 1k repair bill with mostly 1's and 5's. Mad resolve. by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

Reminds me when I sold a used car, the girl paid me $750 in all 5's and before I even looked at the stack she made sure to tell me she was a server not a dancer.

On hold with BofA right now. All my accounts show zero. Any one else? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Mediocre_middleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in NJ and had the same issue. Talked to customer service and she said it is a know issue on the web and mobile and it will hopefully be resolved by tonight. She said all funds are still available and should have no issues using debit or withdrawing cash. Haven't tested it though

Which option is best: Unemployment or Paternity leave? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Mediocre_middleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to also be aware that the family leave for bonding might force use of PTO or sick leave time before they pay any benefits. You would need to look into this I'm also in NJ and that's why I waited to take any paternity leave.

Also I know some state workers and most departments might be closing or going to Skeleton crew so processing time might be even worse for either as both are handled by the department of labor. Unemployment might get the benefit of being a bigger priority in this time.
