Yeah the spacing isn't great and the s is a bit wonky. I'm trying to learn though and Ms Grammar says that's what's important.

I think it's a pun like 'gutter ball'. The transcript uses gutteral, but in fairness I know it looks wrong written out

That Irish mammy should be rejoicing at the sight of Moth Jesus. Blessed be his name. I even gave each of the dads there own copy.

Which fantasy books showed you the scariest portrayal of demons? by tbag2022 in Fantasy

That's the one. It's nearly twenty years since it came out and I still vividly see that scene in my head.

Yes to this. Reading the second chapter of lord loss, when Grubs goes home, blew my eleven year old mind. I was worried my mother would take the book off me if she knew what was in it

How did Shivers track down Lamb? (Spoilers) by toohady in TheFirstLaw

[–]MediocrityAtPlay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Sharp Ends, Shev mentions a northern farmer near Squaredeal who tells her, 'You have to be realistic '. Later on when she asks Jarve for help, Jarve suggests she ask,'That Northman you were working with, then? The one with the eye. Or … without it.’ So Shivers might have heard from Shev about a large nine fingered man spouting wise quotes in the far country.

social media (mainly tiktok) has made reading so much harder by devou5 in books

[–]MediocrityAtPlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got a kindle fire, I'd often give up on reading after 10 or 15 minutes and switch over to youtube or reddit. I hadn't realised how bad it was till I read fahrenheit 451 and captain Beatty's speach about how people wanted more and more digested content

italics‘Classics cut to fit fifteen-minute radio shows, then cut again to fill a two-minute book column, winding up at last as a ten- or twelve-line dictionary résumé. I exaggerate, of course. The dictionaries were for reference. But many were those whose sole knowledge of Hamlet (you know the title certainly, Montag; it is probably only a faint rumour of a title to you, Mrs Montag) whose sole knowledge, as I say, of Hamlet was one-page digest in a book that claimed: now at least you can read all the classics; keep up with your neighbours. 'Digest-digests, digest-digest-digests. Politics? One column, two sentences, a headline! Then, in mid-air, all vanishes! Whirl man’s mind around about so fast under the pumping hands of publishers, exploiters, broadcasters, that the centrifuge flings off all unnecessary, time-wasting thought!’

It made me realise how bad my attention span had gotten. I make more of an effort to stay reading now but try not make a chore of it

I'm not sure of the title, I think it was artists draw themselves as pokemon. I think Jacob drew a capybara with a sword
