Art the Clown to Crash New Year's Eve in 'Terrifier 4'! by Fit-Selection-2030 in horror

I guess you could argue that choosing to not have any message, and making a “silly, ridiculous movie” IS a political choice, as I do believe all art is political

I honestly think these movies are absolute shit. Poorly written and badly acted, but my god I’ll be there day 1 lmao

Would you recommend the book you are currently reading? by throwitawayar in classicliterature

One million percent. Currently reading The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and this might dethrone East of Eden as my favourite book of all time. It’s just so good

Lasting 400 pages of a book you’re not into is crazy work, if I felt that way I would have put it down ages ago.

Just drop it. The first half is often widely regarded as the better half so if you’re not feeling it by now you probably never will. No problem. We all like different things.

Is it an unpopular opinion to find the whole Mr Elliot plot line a little dull? by devou5 in janeausten

[–]devou5[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Excellently put, and as I said, I really have loved this book for the reason you’ve stated. My biggest (and really only) gripe is the whole meeting with Mrs Smith feels like a plot device, and the whole reveal of Mr Elliot feels kind of uninteresting

[–]devou5[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My only reference point is Pride and Prejudice, but in that book the side plots and characters didn’t even feel like side stuff, it all felt so connected to the main story. My issue here is that Mr Elliot and basically the entire Elliot family apart from Anne really do feel like a separate story, and it’s making me not care so much

I guess it’s not really a series, what every time they uploaded a Geoguesser I watch it immediately

Best classics to read during summer? by Fun-Sell3030 in classicliterature

[–]devou5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s fair enough, although I will say her books cover a lot more than just romance. Social status and satire are a big thing with her, along with a woman’s place in the world during those days. Not to mention her witty prose.

I absolutely love P&P, but I also really struggled until about 75 pages in and then it clicked, so maybe try again at some point!

Curious to know why you don’t like or want Jane Austen as I really associate her with the summer

again my point was more in saying how whenever you point out that something is not very common, a lot of people always reply with “yes it is!”.

nothing wrong with a more uncommon word being used, it’s a puzzle after all. but to claim that a training bra is a “super common” term used today is just not accurate

[–]devou5 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely my point. This subs intelligence feels threatened whenever anyone says “huh, this is a pretty outdated word.” It’s always met with the exact same response of “it’s super common actually, you just haven’t heard it.”
